What You Need To Know About Tremblant For The Next 48 Hours...

---------------- 8:49 A.M. Orig. Post -----------------

12(*) Open Trails on South, North Slopes at #Tremblant.

--------------------------- Morning Update ------------------------

----------- Environment Canada Weather Warning Attached Below --------

Mother Nature has a persistent case of the Hiccups !!!

First, Cold enough last night for a very decent Snowmaking Night Shift, i.e.:

(incidentally, that was South/North Summit-to-base Snowmaking last night)

Secondly, now at +3C at the South Resort Base and Zero C at the Summit, so
with the addition of showers, another “Spring-like” day.

Hiccups!!!

What can we say?

Well, to begin with, good conditions are a relative thing. Tremblant has 12(*) Open
Trails and this morning, one of its biggest Regional Peers, Jay Peak Vermont, has 3(*),
while Saint-Sauveur, the Ottawa/Gatineau areas we checked and Blue Mountain, over
in Collingwood Ont., are all “Closed” today.

So... If you live in the East, and you don’t own a Lear Jet that can whisk you out
to your Condo in Revelstoke BC, .... Tremblant at least has a very fine array of
Trails and Summit-to-Base conditions that are entirely sufficient for a Leg-Burning
Training Day(s) and/or a fine 30,000 Vertical Foot Descent Recreational Cruising Day(s).

Ski Conditions today are going to be a good example of that within the
daily shift that softens things into “Spring”, at which time there should
be uniformly excellent carving traction. Evolving “Soft” conditions though,
can be prone to mogul formation, so Skill Levels for some terrain may
need to increase if the moguls get to any size. If you’re looking for a challenge,
Athletic Summit-to-Base lapping off of Duncan will make any Gym look pathetically
boring in terms of Workout stimulation and endurance capacity. Try doing a
40,000”/12,192 Metres, Vertical Day at Tremblant, you’ll know you’ve been
Vigorously Skiing!

When things are less than ideal, appreciation is all about perspectives.

The Currently Available Open Acreage At Tremblant... is greater than the Total acreage
at many small local Ski Hills when they are 100% Mid-Winter Open, so even today,
by those standards, regional Tremblant guests are fortunate now.

The Weather is what the Weather is, and thankfully Tremblant has been just
enough “North” to allow Mountain Crews to lay down some really fine base
in the sub-zero temps that have occurred.

We are very, very grateful for that, and so should everyone else who’s a local
eastern regional resident that can drive/get to Tremblant in a reasonable time
and wants to Ski/Board because... things could be a lot worse.

Weather Notes:

Temps rising through the day from Base Level +1C to around+4 C by Last Run.
Light, variable direction breezes, so swinging around the Summit from multiple
sides.

Foggy, soggy, damp with transient showers, but warm, so more “Spring”.
There’s some probability that dry sectors may exist for part or all of the day
and those may favour either South or North as the low wind swings around.
With the “Warm” part, you may be able to get away with a good water resistant
shell and still stay fairly dry.

Sky should stop precip. late eve., foggy tonight then clearing for Sunrise
with around -1C.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
