{Winter 2015/2016 Post-Season Editor’s Note Of Historical/Statistical Perspective:

For some algorithmic reason, this page is getting an unusually large
number of views so we are adding this Post-Season notation to offset
any impressions that the unusually mild start to this season and the very
unusual Green Christmas recorded herein have any extended effect for
ongoing seasonal development.

Not only does “Winter” arrive in about 2 days from this entry, and builds solidly
through January, but at the end of February, Tremblant experiences what could be
arguably the most natural snowfall in the least amount of time, perhaps in over 100
years of modern Weather Recording. At one point, by just into March 2016,
Tremblant receives 225 cm’s(7.5 Feet) of Snow in 18 days.

The season ends with an over-average 509 cm’s(over 15 feet) of Natural Snow
and the Skiing/Boarding are commensurately Excellent. Be sure to scroll through
the Date Index(After you’ve finished reviewing this page) @ http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu
for all the benefits of the remarkable transformation Mother Nature
blesses Tremblant with for the balance of this Winter.

-------------------- 8:45 A.M. Update -----------------------

16(*) Open Trails on the Ho, Ho, Hopen Slopes of North, South Sides at #Tremblant!

We are absolutely overjoyed to see the 16(*) Open Trails this morning because
it means Great Skiing and Boarding Survive at Tremblant!

It’s all about perspectives...

The Tremblant360.com “Theory Of Relativity”...

The current Tremblant Experience as perceived by those on the slopes....

“Relatively" Good, all things considered!

Within the context of the above photo, taken yesterday from a Mt. Tremblant Village
hill-side vantage point, Skiers and Boarders here are thinking in terms of the White
Snow before them at the beginning of every descent.

It does not matter, clinically or relatively speaking, that the background is not so
Snow-filled as we want to see at this time of year, as the Ski/Board experience has
actually been surprisingly good, even though on limited terrain. Each descent we’ve
had over the past few days has had all the technical elements required for the
application of very fine technique and all the rewards that Skiers and Boarders
expect from a great run on the Mountain.

Here comes another aspect of the “Relativity” part...

“Relatively” Strange... all normal Christmas’s considered...

Above:

If you’re a Non-Skier/Boarder Local Tremblant Person... you won’t think there’s
much good Skiing to tell your friends about when you drive by and see this...
(After all... looking closely at the foreground... you could toss your skis in your
"Boston Whaler”, and boat over to the Resort from here...)
BUT THERE IS Good Skiing Up There!!! It’s there and the Telephoto pic, 2nd
above is the small white trail at the top right side of the Summit view here, where
the Skiing is actually quite nice!. There’s the North too, where there’s also great Open
Terrain.

Below:
Excluding the Mountain Background for a moment, if your an Eastern North American
regional resident and you’re driving around the environ’s of “Yourtown”, you’re seeing
scenes like this, with people on them, performing the “Sport” the green grass of this
pic. was intended for, i.e., “Golf". The reaction of most people gazing upon such a
ground level view, is that “Skiing” and “Boarding” are not really going to be viable
options. Now looking specifically at the Mountain background, Taschereau, the trail
Telephoto Zoomed in on(top pic) is the White area just left of the Summit Comm.
Tower, shown here below.

This is one of the weirdest Christmas-time photos of Tremblant we’ve ever seen
or taken, but there are some of us Ski/Board crazy people up there, having a fine
day on the slopes anyway.

“Relatively” Weird... all normal Seasonal Weather Patterns considered...

Once again, for non-Skier/Boarders, it’s difficult to conceptualize Winter Sports at all,
let alone the good conditions we’ve actually had on the Open Terrain. Some might say
it’s even difficult for Skiers/Boarders who have not been on the slopes at Tremblant
within the last few days, to conceptualize the possibility of good conditions within the
framework of the relative elements of the pic above, but they are there.

Santa’s Elves Page Assembly, as Family Christmas time permits.
Workin’ on it... and in mean-time, temps headed down, below zero soon,
then hopefully, a return to more normal seasonal values that will permit
Mountain Crews to catch up with Snowmaking...

PLUS... There’s Real Snow in the short term forecast!

Open Trail Count (*) SUBJECT TO MORNING CONFIRMATIONS

For Those That Celebrate...

Merry Christmas !!!!

We’re keeping fingers crossed for good luck and a sustained Open Trail List,
however there are multiple weather factors way beyond Human control
that could cause differences from recent.

The current temp is +3 C at South, Resort Base Level, so the Summit may be
below Zero by a degree or two.

It’s actually Snowing flurries now, but supposed to be “Sunny” again later on...

Bring your Tuned Edges for optimal performance and keep in mind that
there is no other Crew as good as Tremblant’s to deal with scenario’s like
this one, so stay positive and lets all make the best of it. At least we’re still
Skiing/Boarding, even as other regional Ski areas remain “Closed”.

Very early start here due to Family Christmas commitments,
thanks for your patience. We’ll get back to update as soon as
we can.

From Above,
Repeat Important Point of Relativity:

"It does not matter, clinically or relatively speaking, that the background is not so
Snow-filled as we want to see at this time of year, as the Ski/Board experience has
actually been surprisingly good, even though on limited terrain. Each descent we’ve
had over the past few days has had all the technical elements required for the
application of very fine technique and all the rewards that Skiers and Boarders expect
from a great run on the Mountain.”

Additionally, as a matter of Perspective Comfort...

This Warm Weather Anomaly is affecting the whole of Eastern North America,
much of it to far greater extent than here, so we are very, very thankful for “North”!

Historical Perspectives Summary:

If you’re looking at this post as a historical review of the range of Christmas Time
Ski/Board conditions, it’s a classic example of how “Averages” are calculated
from the “Low” and the “High” marks recorded for any date. Obviously, this “High”
is not average, as normally Tremblant enjoys a “White Christmas” of a well
established Winter Weather pattern that we would say is typically in place
for two to three weeks by this time. By this time in any “Average” year, we’ve
had to shovel the snow out of the driveway 2 or 3 times, there are roadside
snowbanks and there’s a +/- foot of snow on the ground.

In Tremblant’s favour this unusual season, is that there has been enough “Cool”
to not only be Open with technically very fine terrain, but to be Open while
most of the regional Ski Areas are still closed.

Here’s a 2 Pic. Reminder of what more “Typical” Tremblant Christmas scenes
look like...

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
