Not Even Close....

Yikes!!! A Weather Forecast that’s “Incorrect”, i.e. “Wrong” ...

No!, It can’t be...!!!

No matter the Forecast... Open, Groomed Terrain... Excellent!(**)

The Overcast built fairly quickly this morning and that was the end of any possibility
of “Sunny”, however that had nothing to do with the quality of Skiing/Boarding Groomed
surfaces that were super swift and very high traction for a continuing 95% grade, as
we rated the Overall Groomed earlier.

We had loads of hard carving fun and when you took a minute to look around, so
was almost everyone there. The Trails rang out with Guests “Whooping” and Shouting
Out Gleefully all over the Mountain. The Happiness of people having fun on practically
every trail we got to was patently obvious and for a Sunday Afternoon, the traffic
had declined in volume from the busy morning, so the day ended up being very
easy to get wherever you wanted to with almost no lines more than 2 or 3 minutes,
less in the singles line.

The Snow-Fog was more dense in places, so vision issues definitely existed
and you needed to take care to reduce speed, even though the surfaces under
the fog were just as swift as anywhere else. Common sense is not as widely
evident within the fog as we would hope either, so once again scanning for traffic
before making big turns or stopping was a safety prerequisite. It seems odd to us
that anyone could feel comfortable travelling at speed(bombing) through limited fog
vision, but in the absence of their care, you have to keep your own eyes on alert. Kidz.

Snowmaking Continues on as indicated by the Snowmaking Icons on the
Official Trail Status Data, attached herein, but the one we want to look at first is
Versant Nord, North Side EXPO. This is one of the most anticipated Trail Openings
at Tremblant for the whole season.

We had hoped to have a more dramatic “After” Pic. for the “Before” posted below,
but the Snowmaking was blowing back into the camera lens, so getting
the shot we wanted turned out trying to get any shot at all. We were fortunate
to get maybe the most important area on the whole Expo Pitch though, the “Cliff”
halfway down that’s been very hard to get good coverage on over the decades,
until the last 10 years or so of the “Big Bump” construction technique.

48 hours ago, you could see all the rocky outcroppings on the cliff from below,
almost invisible from above, but not in Openable condition. Now, there’s almost
a 10 metre wide, 2.5 metre tall “Big Bump” as you can see above, covering almost
100% of the Cliff’s rocky bits under a metre of Snow. This is an exceptionally fine
way to build Expo. It’s recent seasons Openings have been to a quality that some
seasons never saw all winter, let alone Opening day. When this trail opens this year,
we think it should be very, very, well covered.

Versant Sud, South Side Snowmaking Sample...

Check This Out... Work underway now for “Erik Guay” the Trail formerly known as
“Grand Prix”.

More in the Morning, but if you can make it, do so.
Your reward will be very light traffic, and very fine Groomed
surfaces, that you may have mostly to yourself.

((**) One minor exception... the McCulloch “Icy” we wrote about previously
was still there, but shifted location to farther up the pitch to where the Gondola
goes overhead. And.. Icy it was... really icy. Slow speed absolutely essential...)

Virtually all the Open Terrain at Tremblant is improving as days go by that have
almost all, had some measure of New Fresh Snowfall, plus the strategic additions
of Snowmaking.

In particular, the Groomed Ski/Board Terrain is by all standards very fine, and
by the standards of this season, at “Best Of” levels, so far. Virtually Glitch free,
super fine, athletic performance carving is what you get all day. The combination of
over a weeks worth of very stable Sub-Zero temps, including some good overnight
Cryogenic Lows reaching into the -20’s C, plus repeated Grooming cycles has
resulted in Smooth, Mogul Resistant, densely packed, "Pure Winter Snow”(**),
base conditions that are a Joy for all skill levels to Ski.

(**) We define “Pure Winter Snow” as that which has not been exposed to any
recent or currently evident, thaw cycles. This is a critical distinction because of
the reliability of Uniform Shred Depth, and absence of Glitches in conditions over
the length and breadth of the Groomed Open Terrain.

You almost have to go out of your way to look for, or find Glitches. In our experience,
there aren’t many, and as we reported in last night’s Apres Ski, the only one we've
recently encountered of any significant dimension was an Icy Section on McCulloch,
below the main upper pitch, on the runout as it heads towards the TVG Quad base.
That could all be different by this morn., but the point is that realistically, there is no
such thing as absolute perfect, so there could be others, maybe, maybe not. All things
considered for this season though, we could not be happier with the Outstanding Efforts
of Tremblant Mountain Op’s Crews that have pulled it all together.

Snowmaking Continues on Expo...

We ran this one, the first day of Expo Snowmaking, a couple of days ago, so it’s
our intention to use this as a “Before”, then edit in an “After”, Apres Ski. We think
there will be a huge visible difference after today. In any event, there are going to
be a lot of excited Expo Fans eagerly awaiting this highly anticipated Expo Trail Opening.

--------------- Conditions Caveat ----------------

Moving to the Un-Groomed, Experts Only Open Terrain is a somewhat different story.
For the most part, there is good coverage, however the late arrival of the natural snow
this season means that the base in the Un-Groomed can be thin, especially where
there are Crests or Pitches that are subject to wind-blast or traffic concentrations that
can affect overall coverage over rocky outcroppings or underlaying brush. These
natural hazards are often not visible from above and/or may be covered by thin
layers of loose snow that camouflage them from view.

Focused Concentration and Slow Speed are absolutely essential in each days
initial exploration of Un-Groomed Expert Only Open Terrain in order to reduce
the risks of injury to either self, or Ski/Board bases.

------------------ End Of Caveat -----------------

Weather Notes:

The Overnight Forecast was for -16C, but Mother Nature decided to go to -21C.
“KKKKKkkkoool”, then to start off with, especially compared to yesterdays mild
-2C, but the big advantage for early starters is definitely going to be the
Carving Performance at very, very fine. Under a forecast Sunny Sky, temp’s are
supposed rise up to around -8C by just after lunch at South, Resort base levels.

Trail Number 1, “Bon Vivant”, runs from the top of the Edge Sector Peak,
around to the mid-point of Nansen Haut, Upper. It is the only dedicated Ski
track that can take you from North Sides, Versant Nord and Edge, to Versant
Sud, the South Side, other than at the Mountain’s Summit.

Not only is the Bon Vivant scenery Snow White Winter Spectacular, but as well,
it’s a Green, easy track and it can be very handy on a crowded weekend or Holiday
day when there may be lineups at North Base and you want to get to South
sectors quickly. This is especially true if you need quick access to the TGV Quad,
as Bon Vivant enters onto Nansen Haut, upper, above the "Mi Chemin” lateral
connector run that takes you across lower Alpine/Beauvallon Haut, on the way to
the TGV Quad Base or any other Mid-South Side Terrain.

Evolutionary Page Assembly, including tonights Apres Ski, but basically,
all you need to do is Bundle Up for the temps, then head out for some
Super-Shred, Mega-Carve Performance! You’ll forget about the “Kool”
when you get carried away with your enthusiasm over “Very Cool” Conditions!
