4(*) Open Trails on Opening Day for 2016/17 Winter Snow Sports Season
at #Tremblant.
If there was such a thing as a “Skiers Dictionary”, you might look up “Anticipation”,
where you’d find the Definition: “Opening Day at any Winter Ski/Board Area.”
For about the last 6 weeks, enthusiastic Ski/Board Fans have been hanging on
every word they can find about the upcoming winter and what to expect for
that first ride up the lift and those first turns on those first runs.
How much snow is there? How many Runs are Open, How’s the Snowmaking?
How’s the Grooming? How quickly are more trails opening? What kind of day is it
going to be? Where is my Base Layer? Where did I put that Edge File... I know I set
it somewhere where it would be handy? I don’t remember bending that Ski pole?
Did Someone See My Other Glove?
All part of those “First Day” goings-on, and...
...For those Passionate Winter Alpine Snow Sports Fans in attendance today,
it would be hard to imagine any other single day on the calendar that could
be more eagerly waited for.
Tremblant Shares:
11.23.16 - Grooming in a fabulous blend of very recent Natural, plus about a
month’s worth of Snowmaking on Tremblant’s Versant Nord, North Side, “Goto”,
Trail of the Decade... P’tit Bonheur.
A lot of the anticipation for today has been generated by the various forms
of media publications that all the very Keen Ski/Board fans have been so
intently studying. Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., etc. have all
been fully engaged in the minds of those true-blue, dedicated Alpine Snow
Sports Fans, and every single shred of information has been savoured with
expectations of as much of this as is possible...
The Finished Results:
Today, and for about the next 5 Months... we get to say...
Lets Go Skiing at Tremblant...
Lets go Boarding at Tremblant...
No more waiting... No more dreaming... Get Up and Go!
One of the first things we do before gearing up...
Reality Check...
The Summit Web Cam:
For any Opening Day, this is a HUGELY Re-assuring sight this morning... Snow, Snow, Snow and some more Snow!
The Summit Web Cam has been relocated to a position
close to the Off-load Zone of the TGV Quad. It now looks out
across to the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Off-load Zone and the
Summit Level Entrance to “Rope Tow”.
Weather Notes:
We will not have to do as much on weather stat’s because the basic
data in now very nicely included in the Official Data we archive, but
there’s still room, there’s always room... to talk about the weather.
We’d call today, so far, sort of a “Bright Overcast”. There is the possibility
of some sun, but that does not really look likely at this early stage.
With the South Base temps just under Zero C, that’s fine with us,
solar energy is not what new season snow needs, so we’re quite content
with the grey. We like Low Wind Speeds and that’s another positive
factor here today... so far.
