Wow... Wow.... Wow....New Day, New Deal!!!
Tremblant Socked With Heavy Snowfall !!! ..... (**)

On the Open Terrain, the Natural Snowfall Accumulations and Skiable Quality
was impressive as the obvious “fill rate” really never let up. The afternoon
saw significant buildups on many trail sides, as well as underfoot in the form of
gentle mogul contours, but they never really became difficult just because there
were so few in attendance.
12.2.16.Beauvallon.Haut.Upper.Crazy.Big.Snowfall.Suberb.Surfaces.c.jpg
The Wind came howling up Beauvallon like an immense natural force and the snow
it propelled against any exposed skin felt like thousands of BB’s coming in at full
frontal facing impact with a fair degree of sting sensation... Most unusual and
genuinely awesome for the uniqueness of the whole experience. Wind propelled
snow around Tremblant is nothing new, in this case, it seemed more like snow
pellets, but what it was if you took time to observe, was nothing other than big,
fat flakes of large dimension and heavy relative weight, flying straight up the hill
at about 50 KPH. Just imagine driving your car through a blizzard, rolling the
window down and sticking your head out into the airstream... now you get the
impression... The most intense part of this was on the Summit level crests over
pitches where land contours generated a ramp effect you had to pass through.
The exposure was brief, but genuine Awesome Mother Nature In Your Face... literally!
Clinically speaking, the Skiing was fabulous over this Self-Compacted Snow Squall
accumulation and there was tremendous joy in just being part of this whole unique
Ski/Board experience.
There are many areas that look like they could be opened very soon with nothing
other than Natural Snow. It is possible that there may be less snowmaking required
to open some of these trails, but we’re not sure what the exact specifications are
for opening.
One Thing’s Certain...
It Sure Looks Good Out There!
(**) We believe this may be the first Significant Orographic Snowfall Event
for the 2016/17 Winter Season. For those not familiar... Orographic Precipitation
is that which is caused by moist warm air being forced upward by a ramp-like
geographic feature like a Mountain.... into much cooler winds at elevation,
causing the moisture to condense and fall. Around Tremblant in the winter,
that can mean a whole bunch of Snow!
The fact that so much snow has fallen over the Mountain while there is very
little accumulation and warmer temps at base, leads us to theorize the Orographic
phenomenon.
We could be wrong, and we welcome legitimate Meteorological corrections
or explanations that either support or contradict our conclusions. Contact us
via Twitter or FaceBook to add your comments.
The Skiing and Boarding for tomorrow should be exceptional. Is there enough
new, natural snow to open any more terrain?
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but in any event, we respect Tremblant’s
priorities, and like all passionate Ski/Board Fans, we look forward to each and every
new Trail Opening as soon and as safe as possible, with eager enthusiasm.
Certainly, with all the new snow, and more forecast, plus all the terrain required
for the 24 Hour Children’s Charity Event to support both the Event Course and
the Terrain necessary to facilitate Public Ski/Board access, this upcoming week
should see some very welcome new terrain openings.
In The Mean-Time...
Get Out There Like The Kidzzz And Train!

5(*) Open Trails on the Naturally Snowing on Summit Sector Slopes of #Tremblant.
It May Seem “Green” and “Warm” at “Yourtown”...
But it’s Wide Winter White on the Open Summit Sectors at Tremblant...

Yesterday... Foggy... maybe, Drizzly... occasionally, Damp... sometimes, but....
Fun... Always!
Basically, all the Open Terrain looks like above. The reason we put in this pic. is
that there was no precipitation in that location to overwhelm camera lens. As a
matter of fact, we did laps there for over an hour in calm, damp/foggy, but no falling
anything.
The High Traction, Soft Spring-like Carving Action has been nothing other than thrilling
for the last two days of grey overcast off/on/off/on whacky, wet, and totally normal
end of November Early Season Weather.
Attendance has been understandably low, so the surfaces have remained at
near pristine levels of smooth, level and Fast, so it’s High Performance Lapping
for Experts and Forgiving Soft And Very Easy Learning for Beginners.
Damp or not... this Snow is just pure fun to be on.
All you need to do to have all-day fun in these conditions is be prepared
and head out for any handy Tremblant Lift that can get you to the Summit.
Plus... Getting back to winter.....
It’s Snowing At Tremblant Now.
Screen Shot 2016-12-02 at 7.47.47 AM
We expect it may Snow all day....
As temp’s drop, nothing could be better for surfaces that were soft several hours ago.
As they solidify with Sub-zero’s, the new snow should act as a buffer and a top-layer
grippy cushion that will ease what might otherwise be some harshness in re-freezing
trail base. Additionally, the temps are falling at a slow rate so what we see happening
is a far more gradual solidification than if temps had dropped quickly by a lot.
What this means is that todays performance for all skill levels may be surprisingly fine.
Due to the new snow covering some thin spots from yesterday, care and caution
are essential on initial explorations and pay attention to hand posted hazard
warnings, if and where placed by the Ski Patrol. It’s not January, and the still early
base has not yet got the depth, so if you value your Ski/Board Base and Edge structures,
be careful until you can establish safe lines.

Grooming, Snowmaking, Lift Status and Mountain Conditions
for December 2nd, 2016, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca
Fine conditions on wide, smooth surfaces have survived quite nicely and
we’re now focusing on the return to more winter-like weather. It’s already
Snowing at the Summit and the temp’s are dropping from this point
forward.
Pre-Season Training on these slopes is wonderful exercise and you can
turn your quads into jello with lap after lap of full-tilt carving. If you’re a
24 Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser Participant, you should be out here now
getting those endurance muscles tweaked into shape.
