12/21/16 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski Edit @ 9:20 P.M.

In Every Positive Way Possible, we refer to the “Grey” ambiance which so far
has virtually meant Natural Snowfall almost daily since November 24th Opening, but...

Even though today started out “Grey”, it ended up “Partly Sunny”, so we’re going to
work Apres Ski in reverse, just because we can lead off here with a far more Weather
Dramatic Scenic, rather than the “Grey” it was for 3/4 of the day from start.

Forecast --->>> "Partly Cloudy"

Above: “Partly Cloudy” Last Run At Tremblant.
“Partly Cloudy” is technically correct, but it does not really come close to the
impression the Sky you see above made, as it was quickly evolving in Turbulence
so obvious, whipping the Clouds like Egg Whites in a Jet Powered Blender.

The Temp’s were so mild, easy, that even with very “Breezy” winds, there was
nothing difficult about the Weather, as far as our preparations went. So after
a few alternating days of Sunrise temps at -30C, getting up to -1C today felt
Balmy and we were hot as soon as we got into gear.

The entire morning, and up until roughly 3:00P.M, all it was, was Snowing.

And Beautiful Snow It Was Too! BIG, FAT, Snowflakes that were not only Large
and Fluffy, but when propelled by the wind, had a wee bit of “Sting” in their “Zing”!

Vision was Pea-Soup right up at the Summit, but began to clear anywhere from
about 200-300 Vertical feet below the Summit, so making way on La Crete, or
anywhere else up there required slow, slow initial speed, but as soon as sight-lines
were safe, it seemed to stay Fog clear from there down, even though the Snowfall
continued, on a "passing over" basis.(At 9:00 P.M. it’s still Snowing in the Old Village
of Mont Tremblant.)

The Open Groomed Terrain was Fast Fabulous Fun. Interesting to note...
it was “Faster” today, than it was yesterday, and we think we know why...

We think it was “Faster” today because as the slightly moist, Big Fat Snowflakes
fell, they hit a Super Cool Frozen Surface that has spent much of the past week at -25C.
That residual “Cold” does not just go away, and we think that when the New Snow Fell
on it, it instantly crystallized, generating a Super Fast Glide you could immediately feel.

The Fun Part: As you can See above, “Fast” did not impede the “Shred Depth”
one single bit, so Edging and Carving and all other Performance Qualities were
100% available, practically everywhere on the Open Groomed Terrain.

There Will Be Regional Expo Fans Dancing
In Their Homes Tonight When They Find This Out!

We are not privy to any Opening Schedule for Expo, however we’d be willing
to bet $10.00Bucks that between 3 to 5 days might be a reasonable Guesstimate.
We’d be Super-Happy to be wrong, if it was sooner...

Right From The Top, Tremblant’s Open, Groomed Terrain Is Pretty Much
Early Season Excellent... Any Path You Choose To Take...

A Challenge For Photography...

But Great For Skiing/Boarding!!!

The Ambient Atmospheric Grey is either Cloud or Snow.

Mostly, We Are Skiing In The Cloud.

The Real Cloud, not that Fake Internet Cloud.

and... Considering we’re Skiing in the Cloud, it does not seem unconnected that...

For Experts On the Opened, Groomed Terrain, The Skiing Is Very Dream-Like.
Many of the surfaces seem almost Liquid/Transparent Under Skis, so it often feels quite
like Floating when you can identify the natural turning points within the descending
topography and combine them with just enough speed to create Lift when you shoot
over the High Points along the way.

With the frequency of Fresh Snowfall, there’s an even Greater Impression of Floating
whenever there’s a soft cushion of New Snow.

This Sample Below Is Duncan and it’s been an Excellent example of “Best Of” Snow
Surfaces since the minute it Opened.

Equally EASY for Beginners, as the Snow is Super Low friction,
but Solid Edge Grip for Stopping, Turning, Braking, etc., whenever you need it.

The Hors Piste, UnGroomed Experts Only Terrain has Great Early Snow, but Still Early
Depths, so There Are Naturally Occurring Hazards Zones until more Snow falls.
Caution With Speed and Navigation Is Warranted In All Un-Groomed Open Sectors.

It’s Still Snowing At Tremblant now, and it’s been Snowing
just about every day since the Season Opened November 24.

Opportunities for Early Season Conditions Like These Do Not Occur Every Season
and are therefore Worthy of All Efforts To Participate.
