3/13/17 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

88(*)Open Trails On the Very Stable, Very Cool and Well Established Base @ #Tremblant.
Very Early 3:45 A.M. Start due to site support logistics.

Skiing Is Still Generally Excellent...

And You Still Need To Bundle Up. BUT...

The Wind Component Is A Fraction Of Previous Two Days,
So WAY Easier!

Above: Looks like this on Web Cam...

These three shots including one above and two below pretty much
tell the story of the past two days of Super Cool and Windy.

Considering there’s nothing we can do about the weather, any
person with a positive mindset can only look at the benefits
which are very dry, fast, and dense surface of Groomed and
Traffic packed snow that is Great Skiing/Boarding, if you have the
edges on Skis or Board sharp enough to maintain grip through turning
phases.

Excellent High Performance, Tundra-Tough, Desert-Dry, Super-Dense,
Low-Friction, White-Rocket, Wind-Sculpted, Sharp-Edge Carving Snow.

Look closely at the above photo with particular attention to left
screen edge, mid page point that shows a very “Polished” surface.

95% of these zones are very densely “Skid" packed Snow and zero ice.
Good, Fresh, Sharp Edges will have amazing grip, while dull, rounded,
burr’d edges will make it feel slick without an effective mechanical edge.
There will be Icy Bits, but in patterns most frequently associated with
Crests, Steep Pitches, High Traffic Volume Constrictions, etc., etc..

Initial Explorations Should Be Taken At Cautious Speeds
Until Safe Passage is Experience Verified.

Today’s First Tracks will be starting out with Very Fine Groomed
Corduroy and with multiple Grooming cycles since the Re-Freeze,
across a wider overall array of All Skill Rated Terrain.

Weather Notes:

Please Note: If The Actual Wind Speed Values Stay Accurate
to this Forecast, even though it is quite cool in absolute degrees,
it may even seem “warm” in Directly, Brightly-Sunlit, Zero-Wind,
Safe, Trailside Stopping Points.

A Dry Cold, With Zero Wind, And Bright March Sun,
Has The Potential To Seem Very Easy Today,
Especially compared to the Last Two....

Regional Tremblant Fans:

Sustained, Sequential, Sub-Zero Day Span, PLUS...
New, Fresh Snowfall, Over Multiple Grooming
Refinement Overnight Cycles, Indicates High
Probability of Significant “Best Of” Potential
Over Next Two Weeks.

Plan Tremblant Attendance(s) Accordingly.

It’s been a while since any singular large Snowfall,
so the forecasted storm approaching from the Sou-West
is most welcome for the sake of the Base, and as a
coverage refresher.

Regional Transits will probably be Messy and Time Delayed
and the path of the Storm is not yet certain, but the recent
“Kool” has reset the Frost Levels into the Mountain and
fundamentally, there’s a great base to add onto.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
