What Was Open, was in great Spring shape
with the principle feature being Wall-To-Wall
winter coverage, well over average for April 5th.

Considering the Exercise Values of Skiing in
thicker, heavier, moisture saturated Spring
Corn Snow, the reduction in Open Trails
created by the recent weather was not too
difficult to deal with because you could
toast your Quads on ANY descent, so energy
expended was at a constantly higher level.

As a “Green”, Beginner Sample, Ptit Bonheur
continues to set the bar for consistent quality
and if you look closely at the Pic. above, you will
see yesterdays Icy/Sleety/Snowy coating on
some trees, indicating Sub-Zero C Temps
that support that Tree-Coating without it Thawing.

What that really means is that the Snow on the ground
is also still well chilled, well enough chilled to retain a
fair degree of Firmness and Speed. This Firmness was
also making P’tit Bonheur “Mogul Resistant”, so as either
Beginner or Cruising Terrain, it was arguably one of the most
Winter-Like surfaces on the Mountain today. The thickness
found on other surfaces was less, and it was easier to
turn, brake and stop on. It’s still a great time too learn!

Tomorrow’s weather is too unpredictable when the daytime
high is only for +4C, because that means the Summit, typically
at -4C cooler, could generate Snow, even if it’s a small possibility.
Are we too Optimistic? Maybe, but there’s no harm in hoping for
the best, as long as we are ready for everything else!

33(*) Open Trails on the Foggy, Grey, Damp, Fast Slopes of #Tremblant .

Almost No One Except Our Die-Hard Friends Who Ski
In Any Weather Will Believe Us...

Excellent Technical Skiing, Weather Notwithstanding...
on all Open Groomed Terrain, and we predict... Similar Today,
although with a higher Day-time temp, there may be less “Fast”.

We felt it was important to show the Snow-Sleet accumulations in
the Trees adjacent to the Duncan Quad at the Summit Level, because
we had written yesterday that “It might not be as wet as you think”,
and indeed, a lot of the Open North felt and Skied as if it was New Snow.
This first pic. shows the evidence of tree accumulations that simply could
not take place this way if it was rain or above Zero C.

This Visible Accumulation is an important phenomenon to note when temps float
around Zero C, and regular folks get freaked out over Rain at the Sud, South
Resort Base Level, thinking it might be like that everywhere, when in reality,
it can actually be Snowing at Summit and/or Upper Nord, North Levels.

It was actually a Sleet-Snow, frozen pellet, and we were overjoyed that
it was not outright rain because technically, it Skied very fast, had great
edge hold and carving lateral grip that could burn up your Quad Muscles
every run.

The high velocity wind propelling Sleety Precip. rendered Camera
inoperative within seconds at the Summit. It went into Default
Shut-Down Mode and that was the end of Photography for the day, But...
that had no effect at all on the High Performance Carving that was
“Fast” everywhere except for the last few metres to the Base Level Lifts.

Our Best Hope For Today...

Is that The “Fast” is still there. There are some Spring Days that are “Fast”,
and some Spring Days that are “Slow”. Even though you may think it’s
going to be either, there is no real way to tell until you can let your Skis
run, and then you’ll know in a flash. Of course, if things heat up too much
it can all change, so if it does get “Slow”, that’s your signal to move to
steeper slopes for some "Gravity Assist”.

Despite restricted Open Trail availability, what we expect is that what is Open,
will be Very Fine. It may be slow/ fast/in-between, but it should all be Smooth,
making anything else in the Conditions mix easy for all Skill Levels.

Weather Notes:

Wow... still too many “Wild Cards” in all this. Even as we
write this it seems unlikely the Sun will be out anytime soon.
It just seems way too Foggy Dark Grey out there, sort of an
“All-Day” Overcast look.

The possibility exists that the Snow-Bearing Weather System
of the Weather Notice Above, could produce some Snow at
Tremblant Mountain Elevations if the temp ranges in the
forecast for Sud, South Base Level hold, or are even slightly
lower than projected.
