OPENING DAY 12.8.09 ... Finally!

Post by T360 »

.

After what seems like an eternity, here we are
at Season Opening Day, December 8th, 2009.

The Official Snow Report from http://www.Tremblant.ca shows
3 lifts and 5 runs open as follows:

3 Lifts open:

Cabriolet Opened 7h15-16h30
Gondola Opened 8h30-14h45
Lowell Thomas Opened 8h30-15h00

4 runs on the North side:

68.Rope Tow Opened Groomed Daytime snow making
71.Beauchemin Haut Opened Groomed Daytime snow making
72.P'tit Bonheur Opened Groomed
73.La Traverse Opened Groomed

1 run on the South side:

2.Crête haut Opened Groomed

Please note: this listed "South Side" run is an alternate connector run
from the unloading point of the Gondola, to the top of P'tit Bonheur,
the Green Run on the North side. It has been prepared as the Summit
access for the 24 Hour course on Beauvallon, but skiers and boarders
will be allowed to access P'tit Bonheur this way until the 24 hour event starts.

Our weather is going to be a very pleasant -5C with the summit at
about -11C and a North-West breeze coming from the Beauvallon/P'tit Bonheur
side under partially sunny skies.

What a ride it's been to get to this point!

Mother Nature was very much unpredictable over the last month
and certainly did disappoint Skiers and Snow Boarders all over
Eastern North America with unusually warm late fall temps,
while Whistler and other Rocky Mountain resorts have been making
us all jealous with their record snow falls and early openings.

NO MORE WAITING!

Yes, you can go to Tremblant TODAY, strap on your gear,
take a lift to the top and Ski or Board NOW!

This is the only news Tremblant winter sport fans want to hear.

Everyone knows that the Mountain is being opened up with primarily
Blown Snow, but there is a dusting of natural snow and we have more on the way!

Below is the summary of the Weather Networks out look for the next 5 days.

Long Term Forecast Updated: Monday, December 7, 2009, 15:41 EST

CHECK OUT THAT SNOW FALL FOR WED. 20-30cm !!!

A review of the "Official" snow report also shows that there is a ton of
snow making going on all over the Mountain. The most significant
Snow Making is occurring on the South Side where Beauvallon is
being prepared for the Top To Bottom feature run for the 24 Hour
Charity Fundraiser being held on Saturday December 12th.

There are 2 significant runs on the North side that are not open
but are listed with daytime snow making, Beauchemin (Lower),
and Lowell Thomas (Upper). This is good to know because it
signifies the near possibility of North side top to bottom on
Beauchemin and for all the Park Fans, Lowell Thomas will be
the scene for all their action once it has been opened.

All things considered with the freaky weather
(which is hopefully all in the past), it is going to be great to get out
on the slopes this morning and we are thankful that this day has
finally arrived!

Please note: THIS IS THE OPENING DAY OF THE 2009/2010 SEASON.

Historically speaking: Opening day this year has been moved from
November 20th, to November 26th, then to December 5th, and finally
to December 8th as a result of unseasonably warm temperatures and rain.

There is speculation that this may be the latest Opening day on record,
however that has not been verified. Any future evidence that is verifiable
to support other late opening dates is welcome for historical/archival accuracy.

Please also note duplicate Historical/Archival notes at bottom of page.
