Tremblant is...

Absolutely Gorgeous!

Below is a Version # 2 of the Versant Nord/North Side Duncan
Haut/Upper pitch(^) shot we ran yesterday morning. This is
from the day before yesterday, however there has been no
new snow since then and we expect the performance to be
virtually identical due to the sustained cold temps that are
also exactly the same. What we want to draw your attention
to is the massive amount of snow-dust in the air around this
Expert Boarders feet and within the trail of passage as the
board shreds this surface so effectively. These very fine small
dusty particles are what make up the highly compressed
groomed surface and they are exceptionally smooth, yet
dense underfoot, so the traction level here is immense at
the same time the speed is fantastic, all because the density
will support tremendous load with almost no friction. For
groomed conditions, it’s quite near ideal and we’re repeating
this example in order to expressly reinforce this concept as a
main featured benefit of conditions at Tremblant right now.

(^) Duncan is on the shaded side of the Mountain in
mid-to-late afternoon, so the shadow makes the
overall lighting conditions a bit of a challenge for
photography. What we have done is to cook up
the contrast, highlights and definition to accent
the snow surface qualities to the highest resolution
possible. Both this one and the one in yesterdays post
were telephoto’s taken from the Lowell T to Devils
River cat-track in a diagonally upward POV to the
right descending side of Duncan under the Duncan
Quad chairlift.

Weather Notes:

Please Note: There appears to be a glitch
in the 14 day forecasting models for
February 14. It is showing -76C for the
overnight low and we think that is incorrect.

If it is not incorrect... watch out, that would
be catastrophically dangerous for all life-forms
as well as community infrastructure. We have
refreshed this graphic numerous times prior
to inclusion, however it has remained as you see.

Conditions Notes:

It may be a wee bit cool, but the groomed conditions
are clinically excellent across the entire range of rated
skill levels.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed categories,
within generally very fine conditions there are more
individualistic zones of challenge and with daily use and
wear patterns, there can be hazards for either unusually
difficult moguls or rocky/icy bits in the low points between
the moguls. The Ski Patrol have hand-posted signage in
these zones and you should take them seriously with
appropriately reduced speed if you want to minimize
hazard risks.

The unique Tremblant Info.Ski crews are fully
bilingual and stand at your service at their Summit
station located just off the Gondola top off-load
exit. They can provide invaluable insight into the
appropriate matching of your skills or particular
interests for specific directions to that terrain.
Exploring is always fun, but with an Info.Ski consult,
you can really optimize your priorities and get right
to the kind of challenge or easy that works for you.

It’s Sunday... There is some probability that the typical
Sunday attendance profile may be in effect where the
mass exodus begins to occur at noon, and by 1:30 P.M.
the local roundabouts look like NASCAR race tracks.
It continuously seems crazy to us why anyone would
give up hours of fabulous ski/board conditions to sit in a
slow moving traffic jam to “Theirville". Stay, ski, board,
relax and go home late when traffic moves at reasonable
speeds. Not enough time to get ready for the work-week?
If you’re a regional regular, we respectfully suggest that
you should put more creative thought into being a better
planner before you ever go out the door for a weekend in
the first place. Giving up what essentially equals 25% of
very precious weekend skiing time just seems plain ole’ “nuts".

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
