95(*) Open Trails On All 4, Sud/South, Nord/North, Soleil And Edge Sectors At #Tremblant .
Sorry for the late start today, however
great Expert news to begin with...
We can tell you for a fact that there are 40 cm’s drift lines
in the Open Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glade sectors at Tremblant.

Our “Proof Of Snow” pic’s are what we think is the simplest
way to illustrate free, all natural, untouched, Tremblant snowpack.
We use skis(158cm’s) and poles(122cm’s) of known dimensions
to represent scale and we also use what we call a horizontal drop
from a standard 1 foot/30cm’s height to illustrate the density of
the snow. The shape of the ski you see lengthwise in the horizontal
relief is exactly how the snow reacted from the specified drop height.
As you can see, it is very light snow with low internal humidity,
so the ski has very easily sunk well below the surface. Walking
in snow this deep is virtually impossible, you sink so quickly into
it that any walking motion is quite near futile. Even with the skis
on you need a fair degree of slope or it’s loft is sufficient to hold
you against quite a bit of gravity. It is an excellent addition to the
Open Sous Bois trail group.
We can also tell you for a fact that there are single Beginner
descents of fabulous consistencies of smoothness and virtually
seamless quality, of up to 6 kilometres.
Everywhere all that fresh snowfall has been groomed in, we have
the basis for extraordinary conditions. There is so much however,
that it may take one more grooming night shift to optimize packed
density, so it is likely that “Great” today, may be “Excellent” tomorrow.

Weather Notes:
It’s a cool one, for sure, so you’ll need to
bundle up for first tracks. By just before
noon hour there should be some solar
energy building though, so the afternoon
should feel considerably easier temp-wise.
One of the main weather co-factors we look
to for relief in the cooler temps is very low
wind speed. Standing in any safe trail-side
rest spot, in the sun, and without wind, you’ll
be able to feel heat in less than a minute.
Conditions Notes:
To begin with, it’s a sunny Saturday and that means
it could be, most likely will be, busy, so patience at
lifts is probably going to be necessary.
The other factor that may contribute to attendance
is that it is the USA’s Martin Luther King Jr. National
Holiday weekend. The actual holiday is Monday, however
many folks add days in front, or days following, and we
can personally attest to this by the number of American
contacts we’ve had on the lift-rides up. The North-Eastern
States are very well represented.
Good thing there are 95 open trails because if busy,
that will be the feature that allows the traffic wear to
be spread out over a vast square area and consequently,
the best chance for all day retained surface quality.
It is very likely that there may be considerable mogul
development in some of the steeper pitches as there
has been a lot of fresh snow in the last 48 hours that
may still have some residual, uncompressed softness.
The big jewels in the Tremblant crown today should
be the Expert Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-groomed,
where for one example, the Edge sector has only been
available within the last day due to an operational glitch
in the lift mechanics that has had it off-line, so all the
recent snowfall accumulations are virtually untouched.
