Everything we expected in the excellence of the day
was fully realized...

PLUS....

For the first time in weeks, there was a very noticeable increase
in natural speed which was most evident in the greater and very
easy glide distance.

More in the morning... Just go if you can.

Our One Pic. Groomed Performance Forecast For Today...

Exceptional!

As a consequence of more snow on the ground right now
than the total seasonal average for the past 30 years, PLUS
multiple Night-Shift grooming cycles, we’re forecasting
“Fantastic” on all the Front-Side groomers!

Is Today Really The Last Cool Day Before
A Warming Trend Starts Tomorrow?

Looks Like It...

We appear to be at the tail end of the depths of
the Polar Vortex winter influence!

It’s bound to happen... The earth’s tilting on its axis towards
spring and for the first day this year, sunset hits at exactly 5:30 P.M.
This is HUGE functional asset as the long shadows of winter recede
and the higher, brighter daytime sunlight vastly improves contrast
and contour definition.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Clinically speaking... very fine to excellent, where “excellent" is “average”.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Generally very fine with well established traffic patterns
that require genuine Expert level skills and experience.

There are also some very raw conditions that carry some
risks and below is a sample, trail # 14, Zig-Zag, that is
relevant because yesterday it was closed mid-day. Today
it is reopen, however it would not surprise us to see it
closed again due to its front-facing Summit level exposures
to the prevailing winter winds that at the velocities recently
seen, can be erosive.

In the shots below, Zig-Zag is the trail on the left side of the
tree stand island and the time spread is 72 hours. You can see
the substantial difference in the visible rocky outcroppings
on the 2.17.25 frame on the right side of the page.

This is what can happen in the powerful force of Mother Nature
when in a week with over a half a metre of fresh snowfall, there
can be some zones that could actually lose some of their coverage
as a consequence of 3 days of sandblasting, which of course in this
case is snow blasting.

Typically there are Ski Patrol hand posted signs indicating hazard
risk so if you see them here or anywhere else, pay attention and
give them serious respect. Even if you’re a top level steepness
Expert, there may be risks to equipment bases and edges that
you’ll want to take into consideration before jumping off the cliff.

On the flip-side, the deep and very forgiving snow in the
Versant Nord/North Side and Edge sectors is fantastic,
fabulous and fun! To put that into perspective, we have
as much snow in the Sous Bois now at mid-February, as
the 30 year average season’s total.

Wow... no wonder it’s so good!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
