Technically, The Skiing Will Be Excellent...

But at -30 C It’s still really KKKkkkkool Outside...

Is it the coldest morning of the season?
We’ll have to check on that one...

Is it the final really cold morning of the season?
Probably, and it looks like a seasonal upward
temperature shift is headed our way tomorrow.

Weather Notes:

Two main points here this morning.

First...
The further we go into March and the approach
of Spring, the less likely it is that we’ll ever see this
kind of extreme dip again.

Second... and arguably the most important of the moment...
Wow... By just after lunch, the temp is expected to rise by 24C to
a far more manageable, way, way easier -6C.

Please Note:

It is our practice to include weather warning alerts
as soon as they are broadcast. In this case it is a
very early travel alert as far as we are concerned.
As far as effects on ski conditions, it way too early
to predict exact effects, although there is a high
probability of a warm, wet, spring skiing preview.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Clinically speaking, superb cryogenic high performance
snow that at first tracks may exhibit frictional characteristics
due to the extreme cold, however, these initial qualities
will evolve quickly between 11:00 and 11:59 A.M as the
ambient air temps rise rapidly to -10C by/during that period
and in doing so, restoring some measure of glide back
into the groomed surfaces.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

As these groups of trails tend to be steeper with
far more loose coverage, the effects of cold on
descent speeds may not be as noticeable. You
can expect the unexpected with high degrees
of variability in the ease of forward descent due
to the cold in the snow, the depths of loose or
tracked snow, the unpredictable softness or
firmness through irregular moguls, or any number
of other Mother Nature generated challenges.

Absolute speed control is essential to avoid hazards
that may not be visible from above. There may be some
extremely choppy, deeply tracked and raw mogul
zones where the deep fresh snow of 3 days ago
has mixed ski/snowboard wear without clear patterns.
Definitely legitimate experienced Experts only.

Pay close attention to Ski Patrol hand posted signage
that should be taken with serious respect.

Generally:

Obviously the challenge is massive cold exposure risk
to begin with so it may be another candidate for a late
start after a relaxing brunch, then hit the slopes when
the cold shock has passed and ski right through.

If you sleep in and start late, the -30C will seem like a dream...

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
