Tempus Fugit
Weird Ski Industry Historical Factoid:
Today Is The 5 Year Anniversary Of The Day That
The Covid-19 Pandemic Shut Down The Entire Ski
Industry(#) And Prematurely Ended The Season.
(#) Not to mention, just about the rest of the whole planet...
Wow... It seems like only yesterday...
Weather Notes:
Here’s where things might get a bit sticky...

"Fly Under The Radar" Trail Exceptions.
We frequently write that quickly evolving conditions
are “Dynamic” and that sometimes means there may
be inadvertent differences between lists and actual.
Here’s a current sample on Versant Nord/North Side
where trail # 78, “Fuddle Duddle” Haut/Upper is not
shown as groomed, but it definitely is.
3.14.25.Nord.North.Fuddle.Duddle.Haut.Upper.Groomed.Carving.Fantastic.d.jpg
This may be somewhat controversial because Fuddle Haut/Upper
has a very enthusiastic mogul fan base, so they might be disappointed,
but for Front-Side Carvers, this is quite near Nirvana because this
trail is sheltered from the sun and heat in this location, and the
traction action here in these conditions with it’s beautiful even pitch
will make the performance the equivalent of driving your Ferrari at
the race track!
The likelihood is that this trail may not be groomed again
for the rest of the season, and if so, with lots of popular
traffic, it will soon revert back to moguls in the spring
softness anyway.
In The Mean Time, Right Next Door...
Enjoy!

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
At first tracks and up until about the noon hour,
soft and forgiving with great carving performance
over shallow top layers that have great, deep, super
cool embedded support in the substrates from 2
months of -25C’s overnights in January and February.
That residual chill in the hill will be around for weeks
but... the degree of softness and heat induced saturation
will definitely become more evident in the afternoon,
particularly on Sud/South, Bas/Lower portions where
the sun and wind will have the most exposures.
Welcome to full-on spring.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Legitimate Expert feedback from a highly trusted source
calls it “Whipped Cream” snow. Please review the Windigo
pic. file above because this pic is worth a thousand words.
This is where the unique combinations of full existing
winter coverage in the bush and un-groomed may feature
the apex of seasonal forgiveness as any of the previous
frozen harshness gives way to universal energy absorbing
softness over maximum hazard coverage.
Welcome to full-on spring, but in this case, the window of
opportunity for such wide scope is now, because if the spring
heat hits, some zones on Sud/South and Soleil may soon exhibit
the sensitivities generated by the wind exposures of winter that
kept their accumulations below the levels retained on sheltered
Nord/North and Edge sector slopes.
Bottom line on the range of Sous Bois availability, for best
results go as soon and as often as you can in the immediate
future.
