------ April 21, 2025 - Closing Day, Apres Ski Season, Apres Ski ---------

Contains Both Today Specific, As Well As Seasonal Summary.

Page 1 of 4. (All attached below.)

(Sorry for the random add’s here, we’re just putting
things in as we think of them and reconfiguring on the
go to roughly integrate the content. Also, we’ve had pic.
file submissions and data from multiple sources that have
come in well after seasons end so things may seem a bit
out of order, but they are all important)

Here’s The Way It Ended Up...

4.21.25 - Apres Ski Season, Apres Ski Pic.File View Across Lac T, Over Mt. T.

Full and excellent wall-to-wall, Summit-to-Base, Versant Sud/South Side
total Mountain vertical on Beauvallon Haut/Upper, Bas/Lower, and...
Nansen Haut/Upper, Bas/Lower.

(See also Nansen Bas/Lower 9:03 A.M. Insert Update sample pic. below.)

Fabulous, Just Fabulous...

Your Best Signs Of Great Spring Skiing!

Late season coverage has favoured Versant Nord/North Side slopes
and you can see all the evidence of that in this pic. below where
the snow white ambience extends through the width of the entire frame.

The bottom line on today is that it was extraordinary for the
amount and quality of Open terrain that certainly reflected
both the deep, stored frost in the mass of the Mountain, as well
as the 604cm’s of total seasonal snowfall, a combination that
makes this closing day one of the best ever recorded.

Please note that additional content will be added as
specifically applicable to April 21, 2025, the closing day,
plus summary and comparative material/metrics applicable
to the entire season.

It may take several days into weeks to process everything
however we do intend to add here incrementally as post-season
time permits.

Due to the focused demands of producing this journal, other
aspects of normal life get set aside until the season ends so
in that regard there is a fair amount of catch-up that will take
time to reckon with before this file can be fully updated.

In the mean-time, please review today’s original post below,
as well as the incremental inserts/additions and thanks for your patience!

This Is Real... This Is Tremblant Right This Second.

(Please Note: Summit Info. Board indicates Zero C
while some Base levels are still showing -2C so
evidently there is a temperature inversion to slightly
warmer elevations that may perpetuate some icy
tendencies until warmth advances.)

Local Expert Feedback...

“They Have Done A Fabulous Job Of Grooming."

For any late April closing day in the years of this journal, this Nansen
Bas/Lower pic. below is extraordinary for the 21st. of April. Obviously
the sun, temps and warm winds have gotten to the bush snow at
these lower Sud/South elevations, but as a testament to the
604 cm’s snowfall total, plus the weeks of deep winter chill
and the grooming skills of Tremblant’s excellent Mountain Op’s
group, what you are looking at here is truly exceptional.

The Apex Of Quite Near Ideal Spring Beautiful Function

We are continuing to feature pic’s from
the last fresh snowy day(4/17), as the
symbolic apex of this final phase of a
very fine 604 cm's “Super Season Superieur”.

This Is How You Should Remember This Spring:

We are not sure if we can ever remember
a previous spring ski season that had such
a pure white winter look on the trails and
in the bush, so late and so close to the end.

4.17.25.Nord.North.Beauchemin.Mid.Plateau.At.Lowell.T.Quad.Base.Scenic.Beauty.Spring.Skiing.Apex.c.jpg

Of course... it does not look like this everywhere, Versant Sud,
South Side base trail-side levels are quite brown from the
long warm and often sunny days of thermal/thaw energy, but
the point is that practically right on up to “Last Run” you
have been able to find authentic bits of real winter conditions
here to a remarkable degree that may only be matched in
historical comparison, a handful of times in the last 30 years.

The 2 pic’s above that are from only 4 days ago represent the
essence of that point, as well as the continued basis for the
great conditions we are forecasting for today.

Weather Notes:

An absolute classic Tremblant Spring Skiing day of a very
firm morning due to overnight Sub-Zero C elevated temp’s,
morphing quickly under a bright early sun into a warmer,
softening temp ranges that should become prevalent by
just around noon.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Gradually going from solid to soft, but starting with a
winter-like freshly groomed loose, and fine granular
mix of very skiable top layers featuring smoothness
that is not only over individual descents, but nearly
seamlessly integrated challenge levels. It should be
this very highly developed connectivity that makes
for a wonderfully easy and very effective learning day for
those aspiring skill-builders who will be enthusiastically
utilizing every minute for fun and practice.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades an Un-Groomed:

When and where available... Super Spring Soft!

----- Please Note: Apres Ski Notice Of Revised Open Trails From 48(*) To 46(*) ------

Please Note(b):

This revision would have occurred during mid-day Open
hours at some point while we were out on the Mountain
doing ski conditions field work so we missed it at the
actual time it was posted.

Sorry about that.

It is our policy to record revised Open trail data when
the revision is 2 or more trail status changes, either
open’s or closes.

Super Soft Super Spring, Shred This...

Versant Nord/North Side, Expo, a trail many would
consider to be one of the crown jewels in the array
of Tremblant mogul descents, is not always open
on closing day due to the sensitivities it has to spring
weather over the irregular ground features of its very
steep incline. A month of March sun and sometimes
wet spring showers when combined with the traffic
it gets because of its popularity, can sometimes cause
a loss of access coverage over the most exposed contours,
but not this year.

Here is an overview shot from the Expo Quad and what is
important to note is the coverage of the upper visible crest,
particularly on the left side(where you can see 2 people standing),
where Mountain Crews laid in roughly an extra 15 or more feet
of snowmaking depth back in January which is now serving as a
durable entrance path onto the pitch.

4.21.25.Expo.Quad.Views.Expo.Pitch.d.jpg
4.21.25.Expo.Quad.Views.Expo.Pitch.d.jpg (1.43 MiB) Viewed 2197 times

Moving up on the Expo Quad, this action shot taken
laterally across the mid-pitch clearly shows the shred
quality of the super-soft spring snow of the early
afternoon. Great control but without excessive saturation.

BONUS...

For fans of “STEEP”... The number of seasons Tremblant’s
steepest trail, “Dynamite” is still open on April 21 is small,
but this has got to be one of the more memorable one’s
because the durability of this trail was enhanced earlier in
the season due to it being winch-groomed, the first time
in 7 years.

Additional(a) Weather Notes:

There are a number of synergistic components that have
facilitated the unusually large square area of open terrain
in the final phases of this 2024/2025 winter ski season
and we want to include this April 2025 weather maker
element as one of the primary support factors.

This graphic was used in several April journal entries
here and it is significant enough in terms of an overall
influence to be part of this seasons ending summary.

4.14.25.Regional.Continental.Global.Weather.Context.a.jpg

Additionally(b)...

As an overall summary point you might look back over any
winter and categorize it as “very snowy” or "really cold”,
"very mild”, “short”, “long”, all terms that 4 season experienced
people are going to recognize and understand. For this winter,
we’d have to retrospectively call it the “Windy Winter”.

If you review the consecutive, 2024/25 daily entries in this
journal you will find numerous references to the effects of
wind-shaping to the way snowfall was laid down, biased towards,
deeply deposited, erosively pushed off, rapidly accumulated or
any other description of physical distribution caused by quickly
moving and very powerful air masses. Looking back, this winter
just seems to have been one of a very active windy character
that had day-after-day of recognizable presence.

We would have to say that when you look at the conditions
of the closing stages of this season the net effects of those
prevailing Sou-West windy influences are being quite dramatically
shown in the abundance of upper Versant Nord/North Side zones
of superb quality and depth reserves where snow has been
consistently piled in by Mother Nature, since last November
in a very beneficial way .

4.21.25.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Trail.Side.Sous.Bois.Proof.Of.Snow.c.jpg

It might look messy, but this shot below is our primary
Nord/North “Proof Of Snow” location and looking closely
you’ll see the ski pole plunged into roughly a metre of
residual snow here on closing day. The messy stuff is the
whole winter season’s worth of tree debris that does not
melt when the snow recedes. It is a soft, clean and very
shallow layer of coniferous needles and bark that will
ultimately become part of the compost floor of the forest
as it comes to life in spring.

If you look at the skid marks the skis made to the stopping
point, you’ll see the whiteness of the snow beneath. The
layer of tree debris is roughly around 1cm or a quarter of an inch.
(If you scroll back 2 days to our 4.19.25 Apres Ski edit you
can see a more detailed look at the shallow top layer strata.)

4.21.25.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Trail.Side.Sous.Bois.Proof.Of.Snow.c.jpg
4.21.25.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Trail.Side.Sous.Bois.Proof.Of.Snow.c.jpg
4.21.25.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Trail.Side.Sous.Bois.Proof.Of.Snow.c.jpg (1.41 MiB) Viewed 2195 times

Despite the cool edge to this early spring seasons weather,
there has been more than enough heat and moisture to
witness the awakening of life in the boreal forest. This shot
below is just an angle away from all of our last “Proof Of Snow”
pic’s and it shows the greening of the lichens and moss’s that so
abundantly cover the trees in this Sous Bois sector.

No camera known on this Earth could capture the complete
intensity of these gorgeous natural colours that would be
enough to make Givenchy or Van Gough jealous...

4.19.25.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Haut.Upper.Trail.Side.Nature.Study.d.jpg
4.19.25.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Haut.Upper.Trail.Side.Nature.Study.d.jpg

The depth of field in the forest as it literally springs
into life is one of the rare privileges we get to see
as winter winds down, so while we’re sad to see the
snow recede, one can not deny the joy found in the
genuine appreciation for the turning of all four seasons.

An April 21, 2025 Statistical Data Point:

(If you’re not interested in stat’s, scroll down past this
section for loads more pic’s below.)

The following points are not just for skiing or weather “Nerd’s”,
they are fundamentally important considerations for near-future
Ski Holiday planners who want to maximize the odd’s of an
authentic, genuine, consistent quality “Winter” ski vacation that
has highest probability of durable, thaw-free snow conditions.

Firstly...

The Season In Review:

Tremblant Snowfall Accumulations By Week
From November 28, 2024, to April 21, 2025

(Please see all attached notes/data below pertaining to
seasonal status labeling and historic trend perspectives.)

Tremblant Winter Ski Season, November 2024/ April 2025,
Is A "Super Season Superieur” @ 604 cm’s Total .

Tremblant Is Getting Snowier As The Seasons Pass.

For purposes of recognition and labeling to identify seasonal
snowfall accumulations we acknowledge a set of standard
attainments starting with the pre-existing statistical 3 decade
average (439cm’s) as a base, followed by what we call a “Super
Season” which would be 20% over the pre-existing base average
(526cm's), followed again by any season with over 600 cm’s
which we call a “Super Season Superieur”.

Tremblant Winter Ski Season, November 2024/ April 2025,
Is A Super Season Superieur.

In the past 3 decades of this era of statistical records we have
access to, “Super Season Superieur” has only occurred 3 previous
times(2008, 2019, 2023), making this season number 4, with 604cm’s.

Here is the raw data for all seasons since 1997, up to this season ending April 21, 2025:
(analytics to follow.)

4.21.25.Tremblant360.Annual.Snowfall.Total.Accumulations.Statistics.a.jpg

4.21.25.Tremblant360.Annual.Snowfall.Total.Accumulations.Statistics.a.jpg (684.48 KiB) Viewed 3920 times

O.K., so now that we have this season’s raw data added in,
lets look at how that fits into computing trends and averages.

4.21.25.Tremblant360.Annual.Snowfall.Total.Accumulations.Raw.Data.Trend.Line.Statistics.a.jpg

A further review of the snowfall metrics as they are related to
subdivided decades within the whole recorded time span really
highlights what we think are very significant rates of snowfall
increase at Tremblant that may have a direct correlation to
the incrementally rising temperatures generally acknowledged
and accepted as Global Warming.

Repeat/Rephrased Point From Trend Line Graph Above:
Basically, not as much snow falls when it’s really cold as
compared to when it’s -7C, +/- a couple of degrees C,
so it is our theory that even when the winter temp.’s here
go up by a fraction of a degree or 2, it can have a profound
and positive effect on natural snowfall production because
Tremblant is in that Mother Nature snowfall sweet spot
more often.

A “Bottom Line” summary point for considering all this
weather nerd information is that Tremblant still has three
months of winter(Dec.Jan.Feb.) where the daily average
temperature is below Zero C/32F, while for regional peer
example, Vermont only has one(Jan.), so if you want better
chances of a ski holiday that does not have a lot of, or so
many icy thaw cycles in the base strata, Tremblant has an
absolute statistical advantage.

Of course, Mother Nature can do almost anything/anytime odd,
but in addition to the 3 months of winter temperature stability,
Tremblant currently/also has 3 decades of well documented
rising average snowfall favour.

More April 21, 2025 Closing Day Conditions Observations:

In this case below, at early afternoon Versant Sud/South Side
Summit level McCulloch pitch actually had more winter-like
conditions than Nord/North Expo. The first shot is an overview
from the TGV Quad, but second shot below shows the real story
where you’ll see a much more granular spray off a snowboard,
rather than the somewhat mushy shred off the skis in the Expo
example up on page 2 of this post.

Although the inevitable intensity of the days solar spring energy
built up to the point of very soft mashed potatoes consistency,
what could be considered quite remarkable was the lack of any
undue saturation. Below, you’ll see an example of a very small
patch of soaked/saturated snow on the lower right side of the
frame, but spots like this were not only few and far between,
but the colourization was very easy to both see and avoid in
almost any forward/decent path.

Just Like Every Other Day...

If you are new to Tremblant or it’s been a while...

The unique Tremblant Info. Ski crew on station
at their main Summit location between the Gondola
and Lowell Thomas offload zones cheerfully greeting
closing day guests with the very same enthusiasm
they demonstrate every single day since November
opening. This dedicated team of local volunteers is
one of the most significant assets Tremblant trip
planners can rely on as you literally have decades
of experienced knowledge to tap into for instantly
optimizing everything from your next run to your
whole day.

More For Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Bushwhacking Adventure Fans:

As One More Sample Of A Wide Range Of Sous Bois...

Like Banzai next door, the upper portions of
Marie-Claude Asselin were in extraordinarily
fine shape. While sun and heat had begun to
work on the trail-side bush snow, there was still
a very complete trail base with very few glitches.

The very last bottom pitch was the only sketchy part
but for those with the skills it was possible to find
a high right side line that was fully covered as you can
see below. The best way down here for us was to do
about 20 very tight swivel pivot turns right down the
extreme right trail edge crest where the super soft
afternoon corn snow could very easily be negotiated
with what ended up being basically slowly alternated
jump turns that had micro-second stops back and
forth across the crest.

The right turn runout to mid-Duncan was a bit sticky
but just as well and completely covered as it was at
the end of February.

During another ride up the Duncan Quad:

Almost everywhere you look, wall-to-wall
coverage with very little in the way of the
kind of typical erosion you’d normally see
for April 21 of any year.

A Quick Flip Over To The Expo Quad...

This entire sector was another example of remarkably
fine coverage just waiting to be explored and enjoyed.

No doubt the mornings first racks were very firm, but by noon
almost everything was soft. The best part of that was very little
in the way of saturation, so not only great cornering traction,
but surprisingly good speed too.

An amazing diversity of closing day conditions,
all fun and literally, not just a little, but a whole
big bunch of “Something For Everyone”!

More to follow as time permits...

Here is a small 2-pic case study on frosted trail durability
and what is important to note here is the impressive all-day
descent quality that was the consequence of one of the very
best lasting examples of retained cold support base integrity
in history.

These 2 shots are only one example of the frequent
references we make over the course of every season to
the value of stored refrigerant in the core mass of the
Mountain for stability that supports both coverage and
quality every day, right on up until last run on closing day.

The Air May Be Warm, But There’s Still Great Chill In The Hill!

Even with eventual solar and ambient temperatures well above
Zero C, most groomed trails like this Lowell Thomas sample
remained smooth and mogul resistant with great speed all day.
These 2 shots are of exactly the same real estate, just separated
by about 6 hours.
