White Winter WOW!
12.4.25.Old.Mt.T.Village.Views.Mt.T.c.jpg
At projected elevation levels around -24C,
The KKkkkooolest morning of the new season... so-far,
however and thankfully, temps will rise quite quickly
into the -16C +/- range.
But... the good news is that it’s great for snowmaking
and it’s great of high performance skiing, so get out
them layers and hit the Tremblant slopes right now
if you can.
(Please Note Above: Snowmaking on Sud/South upper
level Erik Guay. It’s not on the official list, but can be
clearly observed and as a local favourite, the news of
its development will be greatly welcomed.)

Weather Notes:
Legitimate “Bundle Up”/“Cold Snap” Zone...
We may actually have a bit of Mother Nature good luck
as the early Summit level Web Cam temp excerpt is
shown at -19C, indicating there is a slight temp
inversion over elevations. Big, big utility bonus if
that is accurate and it holds as a trend for the day.
--------- 12.5.25 Supplementary Weather Data: ---------------
Looks like we’re going to be dealing with
this authentic “Cold Snap” for a while...
Conditions Notes:
Generally:
“Cryogenics” is primarily the the study of cold effects on materials
and in our case we use the term to help define the superlative
and unique skiing performance attributes of very cold temps
as separate and distinct from snow that is warmer. You should
be getting all of that today where the snow potentially has a
wonderful combination of low friction(#), high speed and glide,
with excellent lateral grip.
Of course you have to prepared for that with the garment
layers necessary to enjoy being out at -20C’s, but for those
intrepid adventure fans, the unique performance of today
could easily make it the best technical skiing of the season, so-far.
(#) Very cold temps can sometimes have slight to moderate
frictional sensations, depending on how low they go,
however that is typically at temps below -25C so we do
not expect that to be a factor today.
In The Groomed:
Very fine where freshly groomed due to the unusually
high ratio of natural snow for this date. As a consequence
of the most recent abundance, there may be some softness
in upper layers that still have a bit of loft and can be prone
to traffic generated tracking and mogul formations as the
day evolves. At these temps the snow will be a very dry
crystalline form that in the almost complete absence of
internal humidity, keeps a light, fluffy consistency.
We expect high rates of lateral traction with little in the
way of icy bits, but there may be some frontal wind
exposed zones where snow blasting makes for shallow
or thin top layers over a firm base. Look for patterns
and use proactive speed reductions where you may
reasonably anticipate wind generated slippery bits.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Local Expert Feedback:
“Exceptional Conditions!"

New Opening Terrain/Snowmaking News:
Versant Sud/South Side Taschereau On “Progressive” Open.
In this upper Sud/South Summit level scene
you can see Taschereau yesterday with the
big snowmaking bumps so evidently the
bumps were milled out flat overnight. You
can see the beginning of the grooming
effort at the top of the run where there
is sort of a mushroom/fan shaped area
of initial spreading.

Snowmaking On Versant Soleil:
This one is not on the official list, but indeed
the snow guns are running on Franc Sud and
can be clearly observed from adjacent ground
levels.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
