Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

To be completely objective and so we won’t be
accused of being unrealistically rosy....

We were a bit wrong yesterday as there were more in
the way of weather generated icy bits than anticipated.
That may be similar today.

Consequently the need for fresh, sharp edge tuning is
equally or more important than previously stated.

The overnight grooming schedule will have corrected
much of the anomalous surface glitches but what can
happen is that traffic wear or evolving weather might
cause new or different ones, so optimized mechanical
grip on potentially slick surface bits is essential.

To be positively objective as well, we want to say that
the majority of freshly groomed surfaces are still very
fine, but what’s happening is that after months of
deep winter, relatively ice free, all snow conditions,
with the recent warm thermal cycles we are moving
towards spring-like tendencies.

Typically, these areas of concern are on steeper, Black/Expert
slopes and just as typically, Greens and lower pitched Blue’s
are always fine and quite near immaculately maintained.

Big new snow could change the whole scene, but
that looks like it could still be several days away,
so in the meantime, you need to be ready for
current conditions.

A second point of objectivity is that there is a
sub-category of the grooming cycles that include
“recently” groomed trails, say within the past 24/48,
and those trails can exhibit more pronounced wear
factors. Yesterday, Tiguidou and La Griffe were 2
examples of recent grooming. Where this is relevant,
is particularly for aspiring Intermediates working up
in pitch or speed challenge and for that reason careful
speed control is required when exploring.

Please Note: The Ski Patrol has barrier-marked some
pitch related ice-flow zones within Black/Expert terrain,
so what you need to look out for can be the shifting
boundaries as Mother Nature works dynamically.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Until more snow falls, this group of trails will be the
most sensitive, potentially the least forgiving, and
legitimately “Experts Only”. However... there is always
great adventure, so for those with the muscle and
experience, "go wild”: as the base frame of reference
is that the base has over 400cm’s making for great
overall coverage, you just need to watch out for and
be ready to navigate highly variable challenges.

---------- Nord/North Duncan Quad Closure Update: ----------------

We are taking a positive point of view on this one and
specifically referring to it as an “Upgrade” because when
the manufacture has to come in for something as
fundamentally significant as a primary motor drive
replacement, you don’t just slap in the part and go home.
Typically, when such a major component gets replaced,
the entire drive system will receive a reset calibration
in addition to fresh bearings, belts, seals, sensors, etc.,
etc., and to us, that’s a functional upgrade.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
