Mother Nature “Springs” Another One On Us...
Standard Adverse Wet Weather Protocols:
The picture above is now 15 years old and we use it specifically
because the most simple solutions are often the most enduring
and effective, which is the exact case here and now.
The Descente brand Poncho(#) is a brilliantly simple, inexpensive,
totally effective solution and the exact poncho you see above is
still in service today because it is meticulously dried out after each
use, carefully folded/stored, and it continues to serve, as it has for
dozens and dozens of uses, most faithfully over the years, to this
very day. That makes it an extraordinary value too, because its cost,
divided by days of use, is literally pennies per day.
It is totally unrestrictive and you will be used to it in 2 runs, not
to mention you’ll be DRY underneath from at least the knees up
which makes days like today easily possible and even enjoyable
for all the fun of classic spring soft surfaces. It is exactly the device
you will see Ski Patrol and Ski Instructors and most Tremblant
local/regional regulars using today as well.
(#) Available in the Resort Village as well as
at better Ski Shops everywhere.
Weather Notes:
Let’s get through today, take a breath, and get back to winter tomorrow, however...
the return to Sub-Zero after another warm/wet burp is likely going generate
solidly firm conditions for at least a day while Mountain Crews get deeper into
the layers with sequential grooming night shifts.
“Depending On The Weather..."
Albeit a lot warmer, a good deal of the day today could
maybe, potentially, possibly, just might, look almost
exactly like it did yesterday...

Conditions Notes:
Generally:
Weather with this dynamic can often affect terrain
availability so we would not be surprised to see
one or more revised open trails listing updates.
Check with the Info.Ski Crews at their Summit station
for run-by-run status changes if necessary.
In The Groomed:
Clinically speaking and notwithstanding wet atmospheric “elements”...
the skiing experience itself has substantial potential for eventual
super-soft spring fun and forgiveness, when and only if the temps rise
to the point that the thaw can get into the top layers by 4 to 6 inches,
10 to 15 cm’s, in order to facilitate reliable wide spread grip.
Things could go from bullet-fast to spring sticky, at some points
back-and-forth, and back again, along any Summit-To-Base
descent lines.
It’s an “Anything Goes” wild card day where the wild cards get
blended out by heat and wet progressively towards the end of
the day.
If the hourly forecast is correct, the 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
time period could be a seriously fine and dry, sweet time
zone where continuous high performance lapping could
turn your Quad muscles into jello if you can handle the fun.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Repeat of yesterday:
Continued restrictions in the Sous Bois group due to
legitimate hazard levels cause by weather effects
outside human control. New snowfall may see enough
buffering, rising temperatures may see enough softening
to mitigate hazard, but either way, the temp oscillations
above and below Zero C that are common to evolving spring
conditions are likely to keep the open Sous Bois terrain
highly variable on a day by day basis. For planners keen
on Sous Bois, the best potential may likely be attached
to heat cycles, however that will also means eventual
terrain loss so the earlier attendance you can make,
the better your chances for coverage/selection.
----------- Equipment Caveat Applicable To Tomorrow: -------------
You don’t need to be to be a Rocket Scientist to understand
what’s gong to happen when temps go from +10 C today,
to -10C tomorrow.
If you don’t bring sharp, fresh Ski/Board edges you are
figuratively bringing your Ferrari to the race track with flat tires.
Don’t be silly... Get this critical utility done NOW.
A Note To Future Readers:
We know for a fact that one of highest volume readership
time periods for this journal is in the Fall pre-ski season
when Ski Holiday researchers are looking at date-period
options. For all those in that group... the weather cycles
we are experiencing may or may not happen at the random
whims of Mother Nature, and at any Ski Resort, at almost
any time. A family Ski Holiday is not cheap, but a Ski/Board
edge tune is comparatively very cheap so plan accordingly
and arrive with the right tools for every eventuality.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
