Conditions Fri 1/9/09

Post by T360 »

.

Another day of Perfect.

Yes, it might be a wee bit chilly, but the Quality of the
skiing and boarding is going to be at the very highest levels possible.

92 open runs this morning, only 2 shy of fully open,
and we are told that tomorrow will be the first day of full 94 run count.

The mountain will have a combination of groomed and
ungroomed terrain, so beginners and experts alike will
find a selection of runs that will be absolutely superb.

You will need to bundle up with appropriate insulation
and be sure to cover everything with at least 1 layer,
because at -21C, Noses, Cheeks, Chins and Ears left
exposed could get frostbite in as little as 4 to 7 minutes,
depending on your "air speed".

Speaking of air speed, the wind today, right at this moment,
is from the North East coming up P'tit Bonhour, Beauchemin
and across the Edge, so if you are riding up the TGV Quad,
you will face it at as you crest the summit, the good news
there is that it will not be too strong.

Weather Forcasters differ on which way the wind will be coming
from, either North East or North West today, so what that could
mean is that it could vary durring the course of the day and it
might swing around towards the Nansen side.

The Snow will be "Squeaky" dry and quite fast, where groomed,
and "Fluffy" in the remaining ungroomed areas.

There is the possibility of some additional flurries in the forecast,
but the big snowfall has aready come, so for the next little while,
there will be Transition Conditions as the Mountain Crews begin
to Groom additional runs over time.

What this means is that the fresh ungroomed runs will get skied
by those who enjoy those conditions and that will leave those
runs with what we call "tracked up" surfaces.

If you are a beginner, today you will want to use caution in these
areas due to the irregular patterns in the snow that can put you
a bit off balance.

Good news though, we have INSTRUCTIONS for todays
conditions right here:
