Weather Notes:
Sunscreen Alert!
As cool as it may start out to be, the intensity
of both direct and snow-white reflected solar
energy will be enough to give you sunburn
on any exposed facial skin today. If you don’t
want to look like a racoon tonight, best cover
nose/cheeks/jaw/brow, etc. with a healthy
layer of sun protection. The thing is, cool air
speeds can be a deceptive element as feeling
wind-chill does not mean there’s no radiation
exposure.

Conditions Notes:
Generally:
All Winter, All Day... at least up over trail elevations.
Considering the temp forecast is not expected
to get to Zero C at base levels until after lunch
hour, up over the inherently cooler trail network
we think the cool will prevail for the whole day.
Maybe, possibly, if, if, if... there is sufficient solar
energy, the afternoon could see some softening
at Sud/South and Soleil lower levels, however we
do not think it would reach any saturation points
due to this being the third day of a little April
Cold-Snap.
In The Groomed:
The Stars Of The Show!
Very fine to excellent across the entire range, but
especially in the Green’s and Blue’s where gentle
slope-angles and incremental refinements from
consecutive Sub-Zero C’s grooming cycles typically
generates noticeable, positive increases in range
and consistency of finished corduroy smoothness.
Of course... it’s spring... there have been previous
heat/wet/thaw episodes, so there can be icy substrates
lurking around, but with sharp edges and a keen eye
for the common colouration differences in surfaces
or obvious traffic generated base exposures, they
should be very minor in comparison to the vast
expanses of unusually and very positively winter-like
surfaces for any April 8 of historic reference.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
As is evident by the outright closures and time-delayed
openings, these are the most sensitive areas and trails
for weather generated conditions. Where possible,
availability will be a function of Ski Patrol certification,
so if/when more opens, be cautious, forgiveness is
on the low side and the bumps can be harsh when froze.
The big warm in the forecast means the best chance
albeit a short window, is for tomorrow afternoon.
