94 out of 95 Trails open.
The only one missing is the new L' Algonquin.
The run itself is in fine shape, but the run out
from the final decent is where there is not
enough coverage for safe passage. As we were
told before, the problem is uneven surfaces with
protruding rock hazards that need more snow.
We will have more detail on that as it becomes
available. A 2 foot blizzard would help.
In the meantime, the other 94 runs are in spectacular
shape and with these warm spring conditions,
they are a joy to be on.
We will probably see daytime high temps around 1C,
but with any luck the Summit will remain nicely below zero
which is good for the snow surfaces that will get some solar
energy that we don't want to see too much softening from.
The Peak of Perfection.
The most "WinterLike" conditions are on Versant Nord .
Less exposure to all day direct sun and a bit more
natural snow depth over the season favour North Side conditions.
Summit surface conditions are in exceptional shape
for learning on P'tit Bonheur.
The skiing/boarding is definitely taking on "Spring"
surface characteristics and yesterday was the first day
of the season that the summit snow softened up from
the thermal energy that was coming from ambient air temp
as well as radiated solar forces.
We are encouraging one and all to make it out to Tremblant
as soon as you can to enjoy some of the most complete,
high quality surface conditions we have ever had.
With the less than average base, our Mountain is fragile
and prolonged exposure to all this warm energy will
eventually cause thawing and loss of snow surface area.
It is difficult to predict exactly how long we can sustain
the current level of open terrain. Weather can be a wild card,
as well as traffic and wear that are also factors effecting
surface quality and durability.
Bottom line # 1 ...
We know what we have today and it is excellent, so
for maximum access to all the superb skiing and boarding,
make your plans to get here as soon as you can.
Bottom line # 2 ...
We should hope that the old weather cliche' about
March when it "Comes in like a lamb and goes out
like a Lion" is true for this season.
Here is today's copy of the Official, printable
Grooming and Trail status report.
If you can, Ski Tremblant A.S.A.P.
