Another Classic Tremblant Sunny Spring Day!
46 Open Runs on the Official list this morning,
and these runs are split between 24 on the South
side and 22 on the North side.
This is a sample of what you can find today.
Take the time to explore the Open Trails for
Gems like this! Cut in 1948, Sissy Schuss is still
one of the best practice runs in North America!
Soleil is scheduled to be opened for the weekend
and by preserving it without traffic during the week
there should definitely be enough snow to have
good coverages there. For those planning to be here
for the weekend and looking forward to at least
one more Soleil experience we say... plan for
early bird skiing and boarding there as the
projected daytime temps could make it
quite thick.

McCulloch Is The Scene For Big Action Today!
In this shot, Mountain Crews set the stage.
A few words about the "Open Trail Count".
We hear feedback from Mountain users who
sometimes express concern about finding differences
between the Official list and what may be found to
be open on the Mountain.
At the bottom of the Official http://www.tremblant.ca
Snow Report is the following notice:
"The conditions and lift hours are subject to change without notice.
Do not hesitate to contact us by phone at 1-866-253-0096 (toll free)."
This statement is there because both Mother Natures and/or event
conditions can literally change by the hour and with regard to
"Mother Nature", may be completely unpredictable.
We have written here many times in the past about
the "Variable" nature of Spring conditions. When the
Tremblant Mountain Crews are getting set up for
any given day, they do so on the preceding day, right up
to the moment of opening for the current date.
They can only do so with the best information they
have at that point, including, but not limited to,
forecasted weather, scheduled events, existing knowledge
about base coverages, hazards, expected visitor Mountain
traffic, safety and any other factors that they need to
include for their operational criteria.
Tremblant Mountain users, or for that matter, users of any
Alpine Ski/Board area in the world in "Spring", need to keep
in mind that it is very difficult, if not impossible to predict
and implement microscopically accurate terrain management
when so many different things can effect "Plans".
For this reason we suggest that anybody who "Spring" Skis
or Boards keeps a flexible attitude towards the "Open Trail"
list. With safety and maximum access in mind, no one is more
motivated than Ski Resort management at ANY resort, to offer
"Open" terrain, but the factors that determine what can be
opened can be changable, literally, by the hour.
In the case of Tremblant, because there are close to 100 "Trails",
one way to think about the "Open" number is to consider it an
approximate PERCENTAGE of Open area, compared to the total.
"Open Trail Count" Summary points are:
1) Open terrain is highly variable, sometimes by the hour
in "Spring" conditions.
2) Many complex factors effect the Open Trail count.
3) Resort Management wants you to have the most possible
Open terrain with the highest possible quality for the length
of the season with safety in mind.
4) It is always easy to have 20/20 hindsight about
what could have been, but that should be applied
toward making tomorrow better, not begrudging or
regretting yesterday.
5) "Spring" Skiers/Boarders will have the best experience
when they have a flexible attitude and are willing to
thoughtfully explore the Open terrain to find conditions
best suited to their individual skills.
Bottom Line on "Open Trail Count":
Lighten up and make the best of Tremblant's Spring
conditions and Open Trails while we have them...
it's a long time 'till next November...
