4/8/10 Conditions

Last Run, Apres Ski...

Please scroll to "reply" below for Apres Ski Info

But basically, Don't give up on the skiing/boarding yet.

If anyone can pull "The cat out of the bag", it's the
Tremblant Mountain Crews!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
13 Open Trails today with Summit access
from the South Side Only.

Temps are a more seasonal -2C from
overnight to a projected daytime high
of +5C under overcast skies with the
possibility of rain and/or snow.

With the overnight -2C, the Mountain
surfaces will have frozen up to one degree
or another, but it will not take long to
soften as soon as the thermometer breaks
into the plus side.

With all the snow harvesting/grooming the
Mountain Crews did we should actually have
some pretty decent turning conditions today.

If we actually do get some snow, the quality
of the open terrain would definitely improve,
although it would take a lot more than the
forecasted dusting to allow for much more
terrain to come back on-line.

BEFORE:

This snap shot shows the extensive amount of
snow harvesting and rebuilding that the Mountain
Crews were doing yesterday, Apres Ski. Literally
tons of snow were being moved and put into place
to restore access and surface quality. This view is
looking North-West from the Summit, along the top
portion of La Crete as it proceeds toward Beauvallon.

AFTER:

An hour later, Mountain Crews put the finishing touches
on the restored surfaces with the powder maker attachments.
Sitting overnight with sub zero temps will have allowed
this work to really blend in quite durably with the pre-existing
base.

One thing to keep in mind is that with 100
skiable acres open, this restoration process
takes a fair bit of time, so it is likely that
they will have prioritized the order of the areas
to be redone in terms of safety first and
access second, but regardless, we still have
Groomed surfaces and a lift to the top, so
lets be thankful for that.

We suspect, and this is nothing more than
speculation, that some of the snow harvest
grooming/rebuilding may have been done
to allow for a few more open trails for the
closing weekend.

That would certainly be nice, if possible.

There will be (relatively speaking) Great Skiing/Boarding
within the open terrain today.

"For Best Results" You will need to be prepared with the
appropriately prepared/waxed for "warm" Skis or Board,
as well as the right layers of clothing for whatever
Mother Nature decides to give us weather wise.

So this is what's happening with the Weather...

Tremblant has been in the path of a classic little
"Fast and Furious", "Hot Rod", Super Weather cell that
included "SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WEATHER ALERT"
as broadcast on-line by weather media.

Sample on-line Weather Alert publication.

This Weather Radar display shows land masses
in Vermont, New York, Quebec and Ontario,
where the tower is located, just South West of
Ottawa.

Tremblant appears in the upper right corner of
the screen. It's all those pretty colours on this map
that are the real trouble makers. The colour scale down
the right margin shows the Volume by corresponding
colour per rate of fall. The Colour Band is moving from left to
right across this screen.

Do Not give up on the skiing or boarding just yet.
If anyone can "Fix-er up", it's the Tremblant
Mountain Crews!

If it's posted as "Open" on the Official www.tremblant.ca
website, grab a poncho and go anyway!
