"Private Club" ...next 3 days at Tremblant.

Enjoy it while you can.

Riding up or down the Gondola, the work being done on the South Side
to prepare for the 24 Hour Children's Charity Fundraiser can clearly be
seen. In this shot, the snowmaking appears as a "cloud", screen right.

Official Open Trail count down 2 to 6 today, because of preparations
to Nansen for the 24 hr fundraiser, so we're left with Alpine and
Beauvallon down to the TGV and P'tit Bonheur down to Lowell
Thomas. Limited runs or not, the surfaces should be exceptional!

The weather will be a copy of yesterday, overcast, snowy, moderate
west winds that you will want to bundle up for on the lifts. Temps
will be about-2C at base and -9C at summit. Due to the wind
swirling around up at the summit, it may seem cooler than it is.
Staying comfortable is in the details like keeping air gaps around
neck, head, wrists and waist completely sealed off.

For all the lucky people at Tremblant this week, the next 3 days are
going to seem like they have the Mountain to themselves, that's why
the "Private Club" comment.

After those 3 days though, things are going to start getting busy as
the 24 Hours Children's Charity Fundraiser begins to take shape.

Participants, Media, Sponsors, Support Staff, Spectators and anyone
else that you can think of associated with the big event will be rolling
into town to set up camp, start training, and get organized. Thousands
of people involved under any of the above categories, will be descending
on Tremblant starting on Thursday (or maybe even sooner) and for
those that were enjoying the quiet of the early week....

It won't seem like a "Private Club" after that.

All for a good cause though, so just as we've done in the past, we'll
Cheer them all on and give them our full understanding!

Fear not though, loyal Tremblant fans, there will be more open terrain
to compensate for all the Mountain space taken up by the 24 Hr., so
we are going to be skiing on new ground very, very soon.

Tons of Snowmaking on the North Side. Crews working here on

Seriously speaking, all the snowmaking going on means that vision
can be greatly reduced by snow particles that freeze on your goggle
lenses. In order to Ski or Board safely, you need to restore clearer vision
so that you don't hit someone and/or fail to see natural hazards that can
cause you to have an accident.

...Just Goggle It!

Here is a whole article on how to do that:

Functional "HOW TO" Hint Re: Snow Guns/Goggles

The Snow surfaces for skiing and boarding are very, very good,
so why let poor vision wreck your day or run?

This is what you are getting ready for.

There is no doubt that the vision is not ideal. We have felt that the
best thing to do is figure out how to cope with conditions until
circumstances change. The article we linked you to from our files was written
last season, January 2010, and it contains effective, field tested methods of
successfully restoring safe vision, so this is not the first time we've had to cope.

Experienced Mountain users know how to deal with these things
A few basic strategies and you are "Good to Go"!

Good morning U.K. Tremblant fans!

All this activity at Tremblant is looking very good for the up-coming season.
If you have a trip to Canada/Tremblant planned for this year, then we are
well on our way to having a very stable base that is 2 weeks ahead of last
year.

Web Cam Apres Ski from yesterday...

Right from the beginning of the day, there was snow at the summit.
Vision is not ideal due to the necessity to continue snowmaking
but there are ways to cope with that as we elaborated on above.

All the support required for the 24hour event is being put
into place at the foot of Johannsen in front of the Resort
village. Snowmaking on the South Side right to the Gondola
loading zone is nearing completion, so "Top to Bottom"
skiing/boarding at Tremblant is only a couple of days away.

Always nice to see... Mountain Crews are working on the North Side
so evidently we may have access on that side not too far away.
