12/23/10 Conditions

Post by T360 »

Page under construction, so if you can,
go skiing or boarding at Tremblant now.
You will have a ton of fun, great quality
exercise, and it will literally, clear your head.
The fresh air, beautiful views and superb
surfaces need to be experienced for
best results!

60 (*) Open Trails with temps in the -4 to -7C range
today and there is going to be a wind factor as
we get Westerly's that are going to be coming up
McCulloch and Beauvallon. It could be gusty at
the Summit from time to time, so for maximum comfort,
make sure that all those gaps around wrists, necks and
any other potential gaps are sealed off.

Riding up the TGV, the wind should be at your back,
but coming around the corner to upper Beauvallon,
is typically where you'll feel it the most until you descend
a bit.

The North should be in the lee of the wind today, so other
than the last few meters of the ride up the Lowell Thomas
triple, it should be quite pleasant at ground level.

Mountain Crews will have been busy last night refining the
open terrain, surveying and getting ready to open more up
for the Holiday guests, and hopefully, working on Duncan
for the sake of efficient up-hill capacity in the coming days.

When you examine todays Official Trail and Grooming status,

Snowmaking on Soleil and the Edge too!

This is one of our favorite "File" shots of Toboggan.
What you see here is both the immaculate type of
winter surfaces that Mountain Crews keep on Toboggan
and the flowing contours of this run that keep people
coming back for more!
This trail has it's own distinctive rhythm and it is easy
to figure it out because it's so obvious. There are 2 or 3
steeper pitches on it, so cresting them means using speed
and edge control, but they are quite short and followed by
shallow plateau's, so moderating speed is easy with good
basic technique.

This is very good news! Toboggan, always popular, is getting
a "helping hand" from the Mountain Crews, so it should be in
great shape for opening soon.

A close look at the above document will show that there is a
whole bunch of grooming and snowmaking activity on the
Mountain.

Check out the list of groomer's for locating the best carving conditions
for not only today, but the next few days as well. If you are going
to be here over Christmas, you are in for a treat!
