Getting back to normal.
Thank goodness a rapid recovery is well underway.
Tomorrow's preview report shows 43 Open Trails
with only 2 progressive openings.
You're going to have a lot more of Tremblant back on-line
and conditions will improve every day this week.
We're going to include the downloadable pdf Trail and Grooming
status preview for tomorrow as a reply below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before Noon Up-Date:
Top To Bottom on South Via Lower Beauvallon, Bière en Bas
and Lower Desserres.
Mi Chemin opens Upper Nansen to TGV.
Top To Bottom on North via Lower Beauchemin.
We're projecting a quick recovery based on this long term
weather forecast.
More up-dates to follow.

Mother Nature Brings In 2011 With A ...
"BIG BANG"(*) (*)unfortunately, not the one we want...
While New Years Eve was a "Blast" and Skiing/Boarding conditions
yesterday were very "Spring Like" in a good way, today....
Conditions are...
"Different"...
...to say the least.
38(*) Open Trails, down from 82, 48 hours ago, due to
rain, heat, then a quick freeze. That's what a day and a
half of up to +7c, then down to below freezing will do.
Unfortunately, 35 of the 38 open trails are "progressive"
openings, which as most regular readers here are aware,
means gradual openings until such time as the Ski Patrol
have determined that the individual trails are safe enough to
open, one at a time.
"Opening Day'ja vu"(*)
(*)(Déjà vu),(play on words)
In a crude attempt at humour, (what else can ya' do?)
... to summarize the actual open runs this morning...
it's almost the same as we had on "Opening Day"
back on November 25th, 2010.
On the South, we've got Beauvallon to the TGV
On the North, we've got P'tit Bonheur to Lowell Thomas.
That's it, pretty much, for right this second.
Observant readers will see Upper Nansen as Open,
however, Mi-Chemin and Lower Nansen are both
progressive so we have to assume Nansen is off
the list at this precise moment with no way to get
back to the TGV or the South Base.
SPECULATION... Subject to proof of time:
The http://www.tremblant360.com team thinks that by the end of the day
there will be "Top to Bottom", at least one for South and North.
Nothing you can do when you're dealing with the
overwhelming hand of Mother Nature.
One of the big differences between the absolute numbers of open
trails that were expected in yesterday's preview report for today,
and the actual of this morning, is the loss of both the Edge and Soleil.
It doesn't mean we've lost all those runs either, what's
happening is that the Mountain Crews are working
together with the Ski Patrol to "Preserve and Protect"
as much of the surface area as is possible.

We need to keep in mind that the beginning of January
is still technically "early season" and that at "open" for barely
over a month, when a big rain/thermal event comes along,
our conditions are going to be sensitive to those effects.
Skiing and Boarding are going to be very restricted here for a
little while and today is the kind of day when it is necessary to
check back with http://www.tremblant.ca frequently for up-dates.
Of course, that's exactly what we'll do to, so we will do our best to
document the progression of the days openings.
The possibility exists that if things go well, we could see official
trail openings happen quickly, almost by the hour, so hang in there
gang, we just need to get through this one step at a time.
Keep The Faith, Tremblant Fans.
It's all we can do while things settle out
after this big, wet, thermal weather event.
Skiing and Boarding today will be challenging and the
critical element will be sharp, tuned edges in order to
have any grip on slick or icy sectors caused by dropping
temperatures.
