Apres Dinner, Apres Ski

If you are trying to decide about a Tremblant visit this weekend,
forget trying, just go.

There are people who believe that the Mountain is in the best
shape of the season so far, right now.

We would not disagree, conditions are indeed at the very top
levels they've been this winter.

very, very good day.

So if it's a really fast day, then it's probably a good day to try out
some Hot Rod Skis!

National Snow Industries Association annual trade show
final day.

Lucky for us as we got an invitation to try out some of the new
gear for next season. It's a tough job, but oh well, we'll just
have to get on with it... those Rossi's are quick little puppies...

Having a glimpse into the future is a very special privilege so
we're off to the Tremblant Congress Center this morning for a tour
of the manufacturers displays, then later on, up to the Johannsen
base to do a couple of demo's on some Hot Rod Slalom Skis.
As any long term reader here may recall, we love to carve out
endless Slalom rails on the ideal slopes of Tremblant!

Lets Talk About The Weather.

Cold. Snowing. Possible Sunny Breaks.

Starts out snowing very lightly here with a early -17C
which may come up a couple, but basically staying quite cool.
Forecasted light Westerly winds, but that's what they said
yesterday and it was definitely breezier than the Weather Network
said it would be.

Bottom line on the weather.... It's winter out there.

Bundle up and deal with it, because the Snow conditions
are superb.

Yesterday we found some unexpected joy when we came across
freshly opened runs that were not anticipated.

The benefit is that you may actually be surprised
with a bonus "Changed Without Notice" to "OPEN"
here and there!

Another fabulous Tremblant day.

Snowmaking production continues at high volume.
The conditions are ideal for snowmaking as the cold temps
mean that the particles are quickly crystalized so there is
very little dampness in it. The result is a very smooth icing
sugar snow with edge set very similar to natural.

It's days like today that remind us why people have been
inspired to write books titled "The Joy Of Skiing" for example.

Skiing today at Tremblant was indeed a joy.

With very few minor exceptions in some high traffic, run-outs or
steep faces, the traction was almost flawless with that confidence
building grip that allows you to explore your own capabilities.

Even Expo had a smooth finish. The left side shown here had a
3 meter wide powder like band that allowed excellent edge set
for rapid back and forth short radius turning.

Fashion at Tremblant adds bright splashes of colour
to the dramatically black and white background.
