Super Demo Day is located at the South Side Base at the
bottom of Johannsen.

making steady progress with ongoing surface improvements, Mother
Nature is doing her own thing with wind and humidity which is happening
on sort of a "revolving" basis. What we mean by this is that if the wind is
from the West one day, the runs facing that wind may have more icy
tendencies that day and if the wind is from the North the next day,
those exposed runs may have a similar effect today, as the Westerly facing
ones had yesterday.
Regular readers here can not escape the "Speed, Control and Conditions Caveat"
that we've been putting in every day and this naturally occurring rotational
conditions change we describe above is a primary reason for doing so.
Trails that may have been close to perfect yesterday, may seem icy today
and Visa-Versa, so caution is still absolutely necessary when exploring the
Mountain for the first time each day due to the variable overnight changes.
Todays weather starts cool at -20C but under forecasted sunny skies
will rise to -11C with a moderate Westerly wind which will be coming up
the Beauvallon sector. The wind should be at your back riding up the TGV
and below the Summit on the North Side you should be able to find
shelter from the wind as well as heat energy from the sun.

past several days to illustrate the quality of the machine groomed
terrain a it's best. Of course, the hand of Mother Nature and the brief
recent warm spell has meant that these nice, loose, granular surfaces are
not "wall to wall", but here is all the evidence you need to know that they
do indeed exist and that they are very carve-able.

Slalom ski and the ski poles have been tossed onto the surface to create
a scale of reference that can be compared to the shape and dimensions
of the carved tracks. The point is that to carve short radius turns with
these tight dimensions and well defined tracks takes a very high traction
surface of uniform quality.
Regardless of skill level, trails typically get the heaviest wear patterns
down the center and Cossak, shown here from the ride up the Duncan Quad,
is no exception. Equally typical, the best snow can be found on the sides
where there is usually good turnable loose snow several meters in width.
On Green trails, this can usually be carved, but on steeper un-groomed
trails like this example, an "Old school", skidded, parallel turn may be the
best technique for staying within the bounds of the good snow.

skills of braking, steering and speed control for maximum
safety and enjoyment.
