This, That, and Other Things....

We talked about orographic precipitation...

We predicted heavy snow accumulations at Summit
and on North...

We discussed "Tipping Points" and Wild-Cards and
best case +/- 40CM Snowfall optimistic scenario's...

Thank the Lord, we seem to have got it right.
(see last 2 days reports for that)

There's a TON of new snow around Tremblant and more coming down
right now, and it's falling on top of this...

Tremblant "Proof of Snow" Above, Below.
Careful viewing will show the pink letters of the ski poles buried
to quite a depth comparing above and below, indicating drifting
dimensions.
============================

Nansen Knee High Powder Drifts!
This is not fake, this is really deep drifted snow exactly as we
anticipated near summit. Sorry for fuzzyaroundedges photography,
but was having "issues" with wet lens and control buttons.

We think this could pretty much be the whole report, but we'll have a
bit more here around sunrise. Just wanted to get started early here in case
you need a bit of help making up your mind...

GGGGGGGO!

.... and besides we want to get out early for this one!

Easy -5C under overcast sky with moderate North wind.

For Experts Only???

All this deep, abundant, magnificent, fresh snow may have
some beginners freaked out...
"Oh My! What am I going to do with this?!?!?!

Fear not, beginners and others who prefer
freshly groomed snow...

Mountain Crews were out right at the end of "Last Run" working
quickly as they use all manner of attachments to get surface
maintenance under way. Probably an "All Nighter" shift with
this much snow.

It may take a day or two to catch up with around 500 "+" acres of normally
groomed terrain, but runs like Nansen and P'tit Bonheur are 2 examples
that usually get the quickest attention, so there should be lots of excellent
terrain for all skill levels.

Regarding the Un-groomed fresh snow terrain...
Variable temperatures and humidity levels present on the 4 different
sides of Tremblant consequently means that there will likely be different
levels of consistency in the new snowfall.

There may be some "Thick"(at "Last Run" there was some deep "porridge"
like snow because of temps and rain)....

There may be some medium density powder. We do not think there will be
too much in the way of really fluffy light stuff that comes with snowfall at
lower temp ranges, but we could be pleasantly surprised on that score, so
we'll just have to get out there and get back to you on that one...

There will be fantastic Skiing and Boarding on all sides for those with the
skills to handle these conditions, but...

We think the North today may well be one of the most special, memorable
days we've had in a long time and our record of prediction has been
pretty good so far, so we're very excited to have the privilege of
verifying that.

And...

It may be necessary to focus on basic fundamentals of a compact, well
centered stance with all due care and control for highly variable rates of
surface resistance that are inherent in deep snow.

The "issues" that we regrettably had with photography yesterday are hopefully
in the past as everything seems dried out and fully operational this morn.,
so we're really looking forward to having a bunch of great pic's to add to
the record. Thanks for your patience.

There's TON'S of fresh snow all over Tremblant
and we're just going to have to cope with it!

Tremblant Apres Mid-Night, Apres Ski... and Rough Draft Preview of
Tomorrow's Info.

March... In Like A Lion!

We Got Our Winter Back!

Relax people, if you wondered where winter went, wonder no longer...

Winter is alive and well at Tremblant!

Lot's 'a snow, lot's 'a bumps, no ice.

The snow we've received has not only covered up any of the glitches that were
around before, but it's added a pure winter dimension to both coverage and quality
that is a rare teat any time, but coming into the second week of March is downright
phenomenal!

All the factors were right in line to give us a beautiful, gorgeous
winter day.

An absolute delight for experts an confident intermediates who like
to have fun in Fresh, New Snow!

There is so much new snow that it is going to take at least a day or two
for Mountain crews to catch up with all the big piles of snow laying around.

Think of it this way... if you asked a farmer how long it takes to tend to a
600 + acer farm, the answer you get will not be over one night. Tremblant
has aprox. 500 "+" acres of groomed terrain and it is going to take a night
or two to get the groomers on to all of it.

By the time Tremblant is groomed with all this new snow, like in a day or two,
it's our feeling you could be looking at the best skiing, boarding of the season
by quite a bit.

What makes it so special is the wall to wall coverage, with no ice that we
found at all. We suppose there could be ice somewhere, but we did not find
it in our travels and at last run on the North, where we had the car parked,
there were still powder lines on the right side of Marie-Claude Asselin's lower
portion.

Another thing was the surprising lightness of the North side snow, and as for
depth, well take a look at this...

Those Ski Poles are 48 inches long and there's about 18 inches
showing above the surface. This location got drifted.
No kidding, all the orographic precipitation and all the blowing and
drifting we talked about potentially happening on the North, did.

Even though P'tit Bonheur was groomed flat for this morning, the sheer
amount of snow underneath was not able to be completely compressed,
there was simply too much. The result was that by "last run" there were
moguls on it that were fairly gentle, and fairly soft, just enough to cause
beginners some navigational challenges.

As Mountain Crews get to repeatedly go over these areas, additional
compression will occur and they will take on the classic Tremblant
smooth, durable and consistent quality that we love to carve up so much.

We think that anyone here for this week at least, is going to be in for
absolutely top drawer, best of season conditions.

It's weekends and snowfall events like this one that help define a season
as a great one, which this one is certainly becoming.

When there's this much fresh snow, people start jumping around!

If you can sneak off to Tremblant anytime soon, you'd be well
advised to do so.

Excellent conditions will simply get more excellent every day
as Mountain Crews work the new snow into the existing base.
