Late Night Tremblant Apres Ski...
Relax, We Just got Winter back...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mega-Snow Alert At Tremblant with 95/95(*)Open Trails.
------------------------------------------------------------
3:24 cantsleeptoexcitedaboutkneehighpowderdriftsseebelow A.M.
This, That, and Other Things....
We talked about orographic precipitation...
We predicted heavy snow accumulations at Summit
and on North...
We discussed "Tipping Points" and Wild-Cards and
best case +/- 40CM Snowfall optimistic scenario's...
Thank the Lord, we seem to have got it right.
(see last 2 days reports for that)
There's a TON of new snow around Tremblant and more coming down
right now, and it's falling on top of this... Tremblant "Proof of Snow" Above, Below.
Careful viewing will show the pink letters of the ski poles buried
to quite a depth comparing above and below, indicating drifting
dimensions.
============================
Nansen Knee High Powder Drifts!
This is not fake, this is really deep drifted snow exactly as we
anticipated near summit. Sorry for fuzzyaroundedges photography,
but was having "issues" with wet lens and control buttons. We think this could pretty much be the whole report, but we'll have a
bit more here around sunrise. Just wanted to get started early here in case
you need a bit of help making up your mind...
GGGGGGGO!
.... and besides we want to get out early for this one!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Regular Morning Stat's...

Please Note: Soleil is on Progressive or Gradual Opening. Easy -5C under overcast sky with moderate North wind.
For Experts Only???
All this deep, abundant, magnificent, fresh snow may have
some beginners freaked out...
"Oh My! What am I going to do with this?!?!?!
Fear not, beginners and others who prefer
freshly groomed snow...
Mountain Crews were out right at the end of "Last Run" working
quickly as they use all manner of attachments to get surface
maintenance under way. Probably an "All Nighter" shift with
this much snow. It may take a day or two to catch up with around 500 "+" acres of normally
groomed terrain, but runs like Nansen and P'tit Bonheur are 2 examples
that usually get the quickest attention, so there should be lots of excellent
terrain for all skill levels.
Regarding the Un-groomed fresh snow terrain...
Variable temperatures and humidity levels present on the 4 different
sides of Tremblant consequently means that there will likely be different
levels of consistency in the new snowfall.
There may be some "Thick"(at "Last Run" there was some deep "porridge"
like snow because of temps and rain)....
There may be some medium density powder. We do not think there will be
too much in the way of really fluffy light stuff that comes with snowfall at
lower temp ranges, but we could be pleasantly surprised on that score, so
we'll just have to get out there and get back to you on that one...
There will be fantastic Skiing and Boarding on all sides for those with the
skills to handle these conditions, but...
We think the North today may well be one of the most special, memorable
days we've had in a long time and our record of prediction has been
pretty good so far, so we're very excited to have the privilege of
verifying that.
And...
It may be necessary to focus on basic fundamentals of a compact, well
centered stance with all due care and control for highly variable rates of
surface resistance that are inherent in deep snow.
The "issues" that we regrettably had with photography yesterday are hopefully
in the past as everything seems dried out and fully operational this morn.,
so we're really looking forward to having a bunch of great pic's to add to
the record. Thanks for your patience.
There's TON'S of fresh snow all over Tremblant
and we're just going to have to cope with it!
