3/13/11 Conditions

Post by T360 »

85(*) Open Trails on the 4 sides of spring
transition Tremblant.

Weekend Report:

Starting Yesterday out foggy, but dry, we found surface quality
right up on par with the best possible coverage, beautifully
groomed, with excellent edge set and control properties.

This is just about the time when we need to start putting
the typical "Spring" provisions into the reporting. Actually,
it's quite a bit later than some years, like last year as an
example. We have had a remarkable run of pure winter
here, right up to this week. March did indeed, come in
like a Lion, blessing us with loads of fresh snow and conditions
of universal coverage and quality that we still have, and will
continue to have for the rest of the season.

Ice of days ago gone...
Replaced by Snow...
And lots of it!!!

All the snow accumulations of the recent precipitation events
have been a benefit to the entire Mountain, which is very obvious
when you ski or board on it, but the orographic snowfall has
definitely been greater on the North. So, in terms of consistent
surface quality, the North has held an advantage just because
it has been favoured with better natural snowmaking and retention.

Here's a Pic. of the North extension of the Summit Patrol H/Q'
located beside the Lowell Thomas Off-Load point @ 2:00 P.M.Yesterday.

Drifting factors on the North can clearly be seen here by the depth
using a ski pole as a reference. Evidence of sustained sub-zero summit
temps is the snow in the trees that would have quickly melted if
temps had gone "above".

This is nothing new to experienced Tremblant skiers and boarders
but for those who are new to the area, we encourage you to explore
these fabulous North side conditions while they are so superbly
maintained and consistent.

Today will be exactly the same as yesterday as we can see

Todays weather is high of +1C, South Side Base, but Summit should remain
nicely at around -4C, so a very easy and beautiful spring transition day.
