Apres Ski Up-Date:

Look at this long range weather forecast and know that
"Spring" at Tremblant is going to be a classically excellent
one due to Lower than average daily projections that will
help in a very large way to keep winter-like surfaces.
Spring Ski season does not happen like this every year, so
make all the excuses you need to, but don't miss this.

It's a long time until next November...

83(*) Open trails on 3 sides of Tremblant.

The "Edge" is off-line at this point, however, LeTendre is
still available as a green North Side trail and it will be in very
fine shape for those who like it's picturesque, gentle pathway.

Here's what you've got to look forward to in the Sunny
Spring days ahead at Tremblant!

An exceptionally fine Spring Due to Lower than average
Temperatures right up to now and forecasted for
the near future.

Up to 10 CM of fresh snow in the forecast today and when you combine that
with the temps that are not supposed to go above -1C, the potential is
that we might get a bit of a surface "Refresher".

While it is a bit of a "grey" day with overcast, at least the forecast is for snow
so let's keep our hopes up that there might be more snow arrive than is called
for. The way this weather system is moving through and the expected
summit temps could produce quite a bit of snow which would nicely add to
a great March snow month, the exact opposite of what we had last year when
we already had more than a week of days of up to +15C and no snow for weeks.

What a difference!

Anytime you see snow on this roof you know Summit temps
and conditions are stable. It only takes a few hours of excessive
heat or moisture to clear it off, so we love to see it still alive
and well.

The excellent base and the abundant March snow
will be what characterize the Spring of 2011 as a beautiful
season for fabulous coverage/conditions and as a result, we are
predicting a very durable Trail count, right through to closing.

What this means to Tremblant fans who are contemplating a late season visit
is ... Go!

Combine these great late season conditions with a $149.00 "Sikwam" pass
and get out there people!

The "Sikwam" pass is completely unrestricted
and is available to ANYONE from ANYWHERE!

If you live in Toronto, Hamilton, Boston, Syracuse, Halifax,
Montreal, Wolverhampton, London, or anywhere else you can grab a
plane, train or automobile and get to Tremblant, just Go!

With all the challenges that come with warm sunny days followed
by sub-zero overnights, you need fresh sharp edges to handle those
"firm" morning conditions. We recommend that you take your skis or
board to Le Ski Shop at the Chalet du Voyageurs.

The Door To Better Performance.

Ski and Board edges degrade gradually in sharpness with use.
The difference day to day is small enough that most people will
not notice, so if it's been more than 10 full days of use, you need to
get a tune-up. Chances are you will think you have new skis.

If you spend time running the rails in the park and wonder why
your skis/board do not grip in icy or firm conditions, stop wondering.
Metal edges on metal rails loose sharpness almost immediately.
If you want big grip on snow, avoid dulling your edges on metal features
in the parks.
Again, Metal on Metal = dull edges.

Le Ski Shop can fix all of that.

The Ski/Board Tech's here are amongst the very best in the region
and can have your gear done to a "T" with a quick turnaround.
We have used them many times at our own expense, we don't get freebies
here, and can tell you we've always gotten great service.

Conditions Caveat:

(We have to put this in because participating in a high speed
Spring Alpine Snow Sport requires safe, completely controllable
responsibility.)

Conditions within all rated skill levels are Excellent, but...

It is the nature of "Spring Skiing/Boarding" to potentially have
highly variable surface conditions as a result of:
transitional spring daily temperature cycles that can go from
below freezing to above freezing...
increasing solar energy effects...
differences between "sunny" and "shaded" sides...
depth of base...
Mountain user daily wear patterns...
naturally occurring hazards, etc., etc.,

Therefore, use caution to explore terrain that is appropriate for your
skill level. Maintain complete control of speed and your ability to stop,
brake and turn in order to safely navigate and verify safe passage before
you go ripping around.

We recommend that you have a tune-up on your Skis or Board
in order to maximize edge control and grip and that you wax or coat
your bases with material that is suitable for the temperature ranges
you will be working with.
