Enthusiastic Participants Ready To Rush The Summit
As The Tremblant 24 Hour Children's Charity Marathon Starts!

More news to follow in reply below.

--------------- 7:59 A.M. Orig. Post -----------------------

12(*) Open Trails on the only day of the
season some people can say "I'm Going
To Go Night Skiing At Tremblant".

Sunny, Snowy Tremblant on the dawn of the
24hour Children's Charity Ski/Board Fundraising
Marathon!

Visibility: Unlimited!
Surface Conditions: Excellent!
Fun Factor: Unlimited!

6 Inches Of Fresh Snow!!!

Please Note: Due to massive amounts of
activity today, there will be many revisions/additions
etc., etc.

IF, you are on a 24 Hour Fundraising team, you are going to be
skiing or Boarding to start with on Upper Beauvallon until
the South base is on-line sometime after dark. Initial hopes
were of course, that the track could extend right down to the
base for the start. We think the delay is most likely due to the
extended warm "+" temps that we had until about 48 hours
ago at base level.

IF, you are a regular Tremblant Guest, out for a day of fine
Alpine Skiing or Snow Boarding, you will be on the superbly
groomed slopes of Versant Nord, The North Side, where 3
Summit based trails will lead you to the Lowell Thomas Triple
Chair lift.

Either way.... You will access the Summit Via the South Side
Gondola.

What we see here is:
Snowmaking, and lot's of it, as temps
are very good for production.
The Start/Finish/Pit Zone with all the vertical
blus sponsor banners. There will be more
finishing work to this sector before the
event starts at noon.
Screen Right... we can just see the side
of the main entertainment stage.

Lot's goin' on today, so check back
later and often. Hope to have a bunch up by
5:30 P.M. or so prior to evening coverage.

want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If You  "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,

Re: 12/10/11 Tremblant Conditions

Teams and spectators began to assemble well before the event
under bright sunlight and the base level temps were quite
pleasant as a result of all that solar energy.

24 Hour Children's Charity organizers managed to pull
off an enthusiastic start to this years event, even though
there were huge challenges going into it left over from the
warm weather that had only turned cold 48 hours or so
before.

Plans to expand the Night Lighting from the Summit down to the
South Side Base worked to benefit Crews that were faced with
having to run the initial phases of the event on the upper
portions of the course, from the Summit to the TGV, instead
of right to the foot of Johannsen. This upper portion served very
well as a "Plan B". Using the Gondola to up-load participants was
not possible until final construction of the very bottom sector was
completed in the evening.

The Summit start zone has been reconfigured to be a single
departure area for all 24Hour participants with a 4 stall "Gate"
that everyone uses. This year there is not a dedicated Race,
High Performance/Speed course. Portable, self contained
lighting right from the summit illuminates very well.

C'est La Vie...
We think Mountain Crews were doing the best they
could and any one who had been watching the web cams for the previous
3 days knew that they were working around the clock to put all in place.

In the mean-time, regular Tremblant guests out for a day on the slopes
had additional open terrain on the North side in the form of Rope Tow
and La Traverse, running from the Summit directly under the Lowell
Thomas Triple Chair, then over to Beauchemin. There were Park modules
in their usual location, on Rope Tow under the L.T.Chair as well as
at the foot of La Traverse.

Surfaces on the newly opened run were a loose granular over a very
firm base and there were some icy portions in the centre, particularly
on the pitch of La Traverse itself. Extending turning radii out to the edge
of this pitch rewarded users with a band of quite soft and very turnable
snow which was wider on the left hand side of the run where many ended up
as they were looking for the best grip.

Our sources tell us that there is a test scheduled for the Duncan High Speed
Detachable Quad Chair Lift on Sunday morning at 6:30, and there's still a ton
of snowmaking going on right down to the North base. Even though it's
very unlikely we'll see that on-line tomorrow, it is non-the-less a very important
development in the early season terrain expansion plan.

As usual, every single day at Tremblant is beautiful and today
was no exception. Riding up the Gondola presented us with a
very striking display of contrast and probably the most winter-like
scenery we've had this season so far.
