Riding up the lifts at Tremblant provides a lot of opportunity to think.
Depending on how much you have going on in your life, the type of thoughts that run through your mind are going to vary quite a bit.
Depending on whether or not there are other passengers with you as you ride up the lift, the conversation could be anything from light and casual to deep and meaningful.
This thread is dedicated to the the things we think and talk about as Chair Lift Philosophers.

Re: The Chair Lift Philosopher
Dedication and the Obsessed.
"Obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated."
The above is a popular explanation for the notion that some people percieved as "obsessed" are actually just dedicated.
This is very true when it comes to Skiing.
Some people actually go skiing with the intent to improve themselves, even if it is the smallest increment, every time they get on the slopes.
Some people are casual, social skiers and have little motivation to do anything other than get down the mountain and hang out while doing that.
We will explore the interaction of these two groups here as time permits.
To begin with, the Passionate skiier, enthusiastically promotes the benefits of improvement. Sometimes the casual skier represent themselves as "dedicated" during "Chair Lift" conversations, perhaps, because they want to think of themselves as involved at a higher level than they actually are.
This is were the Dedicated, Passionate Skier puts their heart on the line because when the dedicated skier shares their passion on the way up on the lift (or anywhere else, for that matter), they risk being thought of as obsessed by others less dedicated than they are.
So what? many may ask... well, no matter what it is in life that you are dedicated to, the idea of meeting with a kindred spirit to share this dedication with, is an appealing thought to most. Typically, we all enjoy sharing our dedicated passions with others who are on the same wavelength.

Re: The Chair Lift Philosopher
In remembrance of Natasha.
How will we carry on?
Regardless of the celebrity status involved, the passing of any human being from our world while participating in our cherished winter snow sports is a deeply sobering experience that we will all feel on a personal level, if for no other reason than we have all taken a fall at one time or another.
Metaphorically speaking, we overwhelmingly...
"Pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off,
and start all over again."
...as the words of the song go.
These words were written in 1936, but even now, we apply them every day because by nature, that is the way we tend to behave.
Natasha herself demonstrated this very response at the time of her fall. Who would have ever predicted the result at that very moment. I think no one. Perhaps that is the most sobering aspect of this tragedy. Each one of us that has taken a fall in our personal learning experience has done the very same thing. We have gotten up, dusted ourselves off and started all over again. So, that must be the way that we carry on, I guess, because how else could we ever cope?
Yes, we will all be a bit more reflective the next time it happens to us, yes, we will all be a lot more concerned when we see it happen to those around us, but yes too, we will all somehow just pick ourselves up and carry on, and when we do, we should never take for granted the fragile privileges we have in this life.
From everything we can learn about the life of Natasha, it would seem as though she would never be a person who would suggest that one should live ones life controlled by fear.
