"Major Tom" To "Ground Control"...
"Successful Landing On Planet Tremblant.
We Found These Tall, White Life Forms...
They Don't Say Much, But They've Made
Us Feel Welcome."
Tremblant takes on the appearance of another World of
some form when the snow has bonded with everything
in sight to create a surreal coating of infinite intricacy.
Every nook of every cranny is filled with white crystalline
structure that shaped by the wind, now becomes something
other than its original form. The pic. above is actually from
yesterday but we had not gotten to it yet, so when we saw it
now we thought it would make a good intro. into this "Other World"
look that's so obvious if you're here Today.
Today's Typical Summit Ambience....
Nansen Pitch had extraordinary grip and traction
that could hang on to the most aggressive GS carving
you could do.
It was as Flat, Flawless and Smooth as a Billiard Table.
More to follow in attached Apres Ski Reply, below.
Should have it all by 9:30 ... 10:00 P.M.
Oh, and don't forget there's a blizzard coming tomorrow...
we hope....

Repeat Skiing Boarding Excellent!
This is EXACTLY what you get today at Tremblant! Wow Conditions Everywhere At Tremblant! Pic's are yesterday A.M., but Today starts out with
virtually identical conditions....
We say "virtually" because the temp is actually 3 degrees Celsius
colder than yesterday, but at minus 30 anything, another 3 degrees
does not make much of a difference in terms of human function.
So then, Appropriate for the Weather...
Full, Cold Weather Warning In Effect.
-Zero Exposed Skin...
-Confirm Seals and Gaps in exterior garment
system are well overlapped to ensure
maximum heat retention.
-Add extra Layers
If you see someone with exposed skin
that looks like a white patch, tell them,
in some cases you can't feel frostbite.
We were riding up the Soleil Quad yesterday and
the two young adults on the chair with us were
whining about cold hands...
They were both wearing short, wrist length gloves
and on one, the gloves were so bunched up frozen
around the wrist that there was a quarter inch visible
ring of bare wrist showing! Excuse Me, But Are You Nuts?
No wonder! Blood trying to flow in and out of a hand with
a bare circumference of skin at -20 some-odd C, is going
to have a severe thermal challenge!
Pull Your Sleeve's Over Your Wrists! or....
Better yet, get Mitt's or Gloves that have a big
gauntlet that provides an overlap to keep the heat
in and the snow/cold out!
This is "Winter"!!! You Need An Effective Exterior Envelope!
Back to The Skiing.....
As grainy as it may be(sorry about that, hand held telephoto's when
you're gasping for breath after a bunch of vigorous turns are always
a challenge when you're trying to be quick to capture scenes...), this
Pic. below illustrates the kind of confidence building grippy conditions
we have right now.
