Tremblant Ski/Board Conditions: Winter Variable, with some
warmer surface characteristics on lower elevations.

We're going to look at Today's Weather first, because depending
on how far the "heat" goes, it could affect the days snow
characteristics somewhat.

As a matter of fact, we've already hit the forecasted Day-Time
high of -2 C before 7:30 A.M. here, so let's hope Mother Nature puts
the brakes on the heat right about now.

Couple of relevant factors to point out...

- The recorded/forecasted temps are for South Side Base Level.
- The Summit and related Upper levels will typically be between
3 to 5 Degrees C cooler.

Basic conclusion here is that there is a high degree of probability
that you are going to experience some distinctly variable conditions
on the Mountain today, but there will be lot's and lot's of "Sweet
Spots" that you'll be able to find by exploring Tremblant's
different sides and elevations.

Expanded reporting in today's Apres Ski.

want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If You  "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Apres Ski...

Depending on when, or how many times you took the Gondola to the
Summit, it was either grey and semi-clear, or cloudy, snowy, but still grey.

Once arrived though, it was vastly more pleasant than yesterday
due to the 20 some-odd degrees Celsius Warmer Temp. An enthusiastic
crowd was enjoying very fine conditions from top to bottom.

Grey days have their own unique look, but there's more than enough
colour on the closest Ski/Board rack.

There was rapid service for as many cycles as you could get on all the
lifts we hit, no lines beyond 45 to 90 seconds, if any at all. That's not to
say that longer lines may have existed at some point, but we never saw 'em.

We had reports of some icy conditions on South side runs like McCulloch,
so off we go for a look and what we found was the typical situation where
the centre of the run that is subjected to the highest concentration of traffic
was prone to exposed firm or icy tendencies, however, both sides of McCulloch
had a band of soft snow ranging in width up to several meters, that was very
skiable.

Experienced or Experts will automatically extend their traverses on
big wide runs like McCulloch to find better traction on the sides.
This is the best thing that anyone can do, a far better option than
repeatedly skidding over the firm centre, as if there were no sides
to utilize.

Perhaps the best sample of a wall to wall beautiful run was Alpine.
The very top was windblown, but not really icy, and it very soon changed
to a very consistently high grip and traction surface that was quite
reliable for it's entire length.

Above.... Riding up Lowell Thomas.

Run selection on the North was less dependant on avoiding icy or
slick zones because there were very few to begin with. The recent
weather patterns have certainly blessed the North with a high level
of natural snow quality.

At the time of this posting, South side temps are higher than
anticipated and will reach into the "Plus" range by a degree or so
but we do not expect any significant impact on conditions.
Overnight temps should drop back down, but if it's been
unpredictable so far this evening, we may see less cooling than
forecasted.

Thanks for your visit, See you in the morning.
