2/29/12 Tremblant Conditions

Apres Ski below in reply....

---------------- 6:43 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------------

95(*) Open Trails On The Sunny, KKKKooool 4 Sides
Of Tremblant....

"KKKoool" as in -23 C

Wow, Thanks for the Surprise "Eye Opener" Mother Nature !!!

However...

They won't be "Sunny" or "KKKKoool" for long, because...

A complex weather system, commonly referred to as a
"Colorado Low" is moving rapidly across the Mid-West U.S.A.
and has already affected South-Western Ontario with a very
messy mix of everything but the kitchen sink precipitation
and it's headed our way.... now.

Basically, if you drew a line from Thunder Bay Ontario, over to
Ottawa, then on to Montreal, everything below that line will get
the junky weather in the next 24 hours.

There's an Arctic Cold air mass stalled over Quebec, i.e. -23 C,
and that very cold air mass is going to react with the intense
momentum of the moisture laden "Colorado Low" as the two
systems collide, pretty much right over our heads later on today.

The key to all the blessings, benefits and enjoyment of

Please Note: Page subject to multiple edits today
due to very dynamic, rapidly evolving weather conditions
that with any luck are going to take Tremblant from
"Excellent" to a whole new level of "Fantastic".

We could see a lot of snow out of this one, Tremblant Fans...

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index Pages per season.

( If You "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate, current to
25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by consecutive date.)

T360 Apres Ski @ 11:20 P.M. ...

We were hoping to get a lot more in here today, but circumstances
beyond our control diverted time resources... Sorry about that...

Anyway, it was a beautiful day here marked by a very unusual
swing in the daytime temps.

It started out at an Official -23 C and by 10 A.M. it had risen to -20 C
Then things happened quickly...

Basically, within about 3 hours, the temp shot up to -2 C !

That's like a 20 Degree celsius rise! Not sure we can ever recall the
temps moving that quickly.

Skiing vigorously and staying warm was a Deep Winter Challenge, initially...
Then, all of a sudden... You're BOILING!!!
Wow... and a bit unreal???

The Lull Before The Storm???
We sure hope so...

Writing this at after 10:00 P.M., the second thing that's quite unusual
is the wind. An hour ago there was a breeze for sure, but within
the last little while, it's howling!

In the mean-time, tonights news is filled with the details of how this massive
Colorado Low Weather system is effecting Millions of people on the Eastern
portion of the North American Continent. This system has moved diagonally
from the Gulf of Mexico, across the Mid-West, unfortunately, killing 13 people
along the way before it has now made it's way on a Nor-Easterly path to us.

The Weather Network says we should be seeing the snow start soon. If the wind
is any indicator, it should be right around the corner.

As more info becomes available, we'll do our best to add it here tonight, but any
future historians will probably find quite a bit of archival material for this date.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Middle of the Night Shift, Global Tremblant Apres Ski Update @ 3:330 A.M. EST...

It finally started to snow, at least close here to the South Side Resort Base,
but it's not a really thick or heavy snow yet.

That could change, and it could also be quite different on the North Side
and/or Summit.

At this point, the Web Cams for the North and Summit are not
giving us any significant insight... The Summit is obscured, hopefully
by snow, and the North has all the lights out on the Lodge deck, so we
can't see any ground level accumulations... guess we'll have to wait for
sunrise to see what's what.

At -7 C, we're still on the right side of the Temp scale, and that's a huge
difference from some local regions that have had not only Plus temps
today, but lots of freezing rain, so we've dodged that bullet.

We hope to see you back here in the morning for what could be
a very snowy day.
