Wow Selection on Wow Terrain!!!
Boxing Day, 1 Day Sale on EXCELLENT Sunny Snow
Filled Perfection!
Tomorrow's forecast for overcast, but today should shine
out like a bright jewel in a crown of white winter wonder!
Our One Pic. Forecast du Jour.... Statistically speaking, the array of Open Terrain at Tremblant today is
a very rare occasion. Just off the top of our heads, you would have to
go back to the season Tremblant had the highest recorded accumulation
of Snow(600 CM) in '07/08 to find this kind of selection at Christmas.
Last season, typical for this time, we had 40 great runs open and
as usual, we were very happy with them. This season so far, stands
out as way more than typical, so we should be reminding ourselves how
very very fortunate we are to have this great range of choice.
The Drifted-in Factor...
"I Know I Had Two When I Got Here ... ?!?!?!"
We'll have more on the drift factor later on.
Welcome to Winter!!!
Today's Weather starts out way chillier than they thought @ -21C
with sun in the sky and the potential daytime high of -9C.
Just like yesterday, if you can find a quiet, sheltered, sunny trailside
spot, solar energy will come through. Other than that, you will need to
bundle up.
Winds forecast to be moderate Nor-Easterly, so coming up P'tit Bonheur
and heading over the Summit towards Soleil.
They will be chilly, so make sure gaps, seals and and all the insulation
you need are well secured.
Conditions: Besides EXCELLENT.... please remember it's still not
the middle of February yet, so there can be natural hazards within
the still early seasons base. Windblown Steeper pitches are one example
of areas you need to use speed caution on, in first exploration runs.
Watch out for others in the busy Holiday Traffic.

What we can tell about conditions by simple Summit observations.
Looking below closely at the Summit building on the North Side
of the Gondola Station, we can see how the wind and snow
act on peaks and ridges. These actions on the buildings shapes
are not much different on the Mountain. It's all about scale.
24 Hours later, wind with a Westerly component has begun to
work on moving snow off the exposed flat roof surface. You can think of
wide open slopes as similarly effected although there are differences
on the ground due to irregular land contours and trees.
This underscores the importance of Mountain crews packing the trails as
soon as possible after or during the snow's arrival. Packed, Groomed
snow is far more wind resistant than loose roof snow, so the aim would
be to keep as much in place as possible.
In the Mean-time, at the North Side Base level looking back over
the runout portion of Fuddle-Duddle and Beauchemin, it is quite
evident that this whole sector is in the lee and thus protected almost
completely from the winds effects as the snow on the wooden frames
over the North Base Lodge's doors would not be there at all with any
significant wind speed.
Bottom line on the Webcam conditions diagnostics is that the
North will probably have a greater number of "Sweet Spots"
due to wind driven snow drifting.
