T360 Apres Ski Intro. Edit.... @ 9:55 P.M.

The Skiing was as beautiful and as tranquil as this Versant Nord stream...

Take a deep breath... then, relax......

No, it's not a slope-side action shot, but it sure sums up the day...
Quiet and Serenely Beautiful....

(Most people blast right by this scene on the drive into the North Side,
they don't even know what's just off to the side, but we do, and so do you.)

There will some who will find fault in the day...
Critics are never out of work....

But we had a blast, other than couple little inconveniences
related to vision, it was fairly warm and the Trail surfaces
were just about immaculate.

More in Apres Ski Reply, attached below and under
construction at 10:30 P.M., Lord Willing......

-7C this morning and all will be well for today we think....

All was certainly well yesterday, and despite the photo challenged
flat, grey light with a telephoto snap shot, this pic of Toboggan over on
the Soleil Sector was completely typical of every square centimetre
of Tremblant we covered... Excellent fun, excellent surface.

Toboggan got our spontaneous "Trail du Jour" award.
It was a "Hoot" with a capital "H"!!!

Everywhere we went was fast, fun, and damn near perfect...

Everyone else seemed to be having fun too....

We think today will be a Repeat.

We'll let you know if you can't be here...

More on the way here after a few chores get done...

Every season Mother Nature takes us through the same cycles of
temps, snow fall, and any other seasonal variations that can and usually
do include "warm" spells. Just as usually we have what we might call a
"Run" on Winter, a period of extended initial seasons cold that is virtually
uninterrupted and goes a long way to establishing the seasons quality.

Basically, that's almost been since November 10th or so when Tremblant
started blowing snow in the very early cold of this record season.

Today may be the last day of that initial "Run" of winter, so when we found
this little pic. in the group, taken over the left shoulder as you ride up the
Soleil Quad, we thought it was oddly appropriate as a sort-of tribute to
the man with the original vision for the Alpine Ski Resort at Tremblant,
Joe Ryan.

We're calling this simple picture looking down Ryan, Tremblant Trail # 24,
"Spirit Of Joe", a skiers silhouette on the pristine White Winter Wonderful
of a most picturesque Tremblant scene that is not much different in this
specific location, than it was on this date in 1939.

Winter is going to be here for months to come, more snow, more
pure winter enjoyment, and even better conditions yet to come in the
fullness of the season which is not yet mature.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Apres Ski...

There was a snowy, sleety mix of precipitation that started
around 1:30 P.M.

Snow in the trees... you know we like snow in the trees...

The reason, you may recall, is that snow in the trees is completely
uninsulated. The air comes at it from all directions, the rain, if there is any,
tries to wash it away, so of all the places that have Snow on the Mountain,
the snow in the trees is most fragile.

So then, when the snow is still in the trees, you know there's been no
thermal event above freezing and the above pic. certainly confirms
that in spades. So far, the Summit sectors and just about the Top
to Bottom North side has been immune to any deterioration.

We skied primarily the North because the precipitation mix there was
like a granular snow pellet, a very small one, say 1mm and almost to
Last Run, maybe second last run, we stayed quite dry and for the most
part, whatever hit us, bounced off.

We caught Duncan up at 3:29 and by 3:45 it was still not rain as we left
the top.

The forecast all along for tomorrow has been +6 with light rain and
that high temp has already been downgraded to +5, a big difference
to us, when we know that the Summit is typically 4/5 C cooler than
base levels.

Anything that holds cold, especially higher elevations, is good for winter.

We hope that the Weather Forecasters are wrong again tomorrow in
any way that could minimize both thermal and rain, but regardless,
our surfaces will be temporarily changing.

To begin with, tomorrow and possibly Sunday are a short sale on
"Spring Skiing" and will be as much fun, actually more than "Spring"
because the coverage is complete.

In keeping with the whole Snow in the Trees Theme, we're going to have
a small feature on our "Last Run" descent for tomorrow morning.
