Under construction @ 10:35 P.M.
------------------- 10:45 A.M. Update----------
Sorry to report that the Open list has been revised downward to 83.
This does not necessarily mean any loss of terrain, as Trail
closings are often done to preserve snow covered terrain where
traffic and warm can do damage under continued use.
More in Apres Ski...

95(*) Open Trails on the "Spring For A Day" Slopes
of all 4 sides of 100% Open Tremblant!
There's not a damn thing we can do about the weather
other than cope with it, adapt as much as possible
and have fun anyway....
Smiles and Positive Mental Attitudes are the biggest
components of "Fun In Any Weather" at Tremblant,
especially when it's 100% open with the very fine,
superbly prepared Groomed base. This is a wider angle version of Snap Shots we took of
T360 Friends from Oshawa Ont. that we were delighted
to see. You're part of Tremblant History now!(if you're seeing
this Pic. for the first time Oshawa Tremblant Fans, use the "Previous
Topic" button, upper screen right, to scroll back to yesterday's
Apres Ski for the other one.)
The Mountain is fully, 100% Open with just about zero
glitches in the groomed terrain, and for experts only,
more to watch out for in the way of natural hazards
on some of the steeper, or narrow mogul'd runs.
You can find lot's of colour even on grey days. Some of the
Board Base Graphics really "Pop" under grey light.
We called yesterday a "Descente Poncho Day" and we are
happy to report that while the poncho did contribute to an
enhanced level of personal dryness, it was not absolutely
necessary because the drizzle was not a full-on soaker type
of precipitation. Other than being sort-of damp, you could get away
without it. Today may be different, we'll see how it goes.
The forecast which at times has called for temps up to +9C has been
(Thankfully) revised back down to +6 which may not seem like a big
difference, but with the elevation differential that can be 4-5 Degrees
C cooler at the Summit, this could be a critical difference in helping
to maintain Summit level conditions, not to mention that in absolute
numbers, it's 33% less heat above freezing for the whole Mountain.
"January Thaws" are a common and normal part of the seasonal matrix
and we're thankful that this one appears to be relatively short and without
any solar contribution.
This could be be a "Go Anywhere, Do Anything" day on the groomed because
any softness in the top layers will be super easy to steer with and if there
is any moisture related breaking effect, you may be able to choose steeper
trails and have better control.
Further to the Point...
We revisited our Yesterday Versant Nord, North Side feature, Andy-Moe
and Axle to Lowell T. and onward(more on that below), and we're adding
this below, because it very clearly shows the superb carve-ability of the
slightly warmed surfaces. Traction is Excellent, coverage is totally complete...
everywhere, North, South, Edge, Soleil not just here. This just happens to be
the best, current to today, pic of surfaces we have.
If you are an upcoming Tremblant Trip Planner, Fear Not.
Temps will return to sub-zero, conditions will "firm up" and
there will be a lot more snow to come. The Mountain Crews
are very quick reacting and the recovery process starts
immediately as soon as the temps drop. The best coping
mechanism we can think of is to arrive with freshly tuned gear
so that if "Firm" is big component of conditions, you're ready.
Furthermore, we predict that the very thick and stable early season
base will prove to be wonderfully resilient due to the very heavy
frost underneath.
Foggy, Grey did not stop any of the Park Action, South or North.
Riding up the Flying Mile Quad, we just happened to grab this
blind, over-shoulder Spontaneous, slightly fuzzy Snap Shot as
this airborne jumper clearly shows how much height can be achieved
from the XL ramps in the Adrenaline South Park. Over on the North Park, Rope Tow, Upper jump line, there was
a steady stream of fliers and with only the ghostly shadow of the
Lowell Thomas Triple Chair in the background none of the distant
scenery was visible at all.

Trail and Grooming Status Report, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca Yesterday's report included a North Side Descent Path featuring
"Andy-Moe" and "Axle" from the Summit plateau of P'tit Bonheur...
and we promised a annotated Trail Map to show this classic, beautiful
path, so here it is, beginning with...
Turn Right, Here... Unfortunately not so snowy 48 hours later, but shown for
landmark, Trail Sign recognition purposes.
