Welcome Back to Winter!

We absolutely love this up-coming forecast after several days of
restoration and recovery from last weekend's "weather".

Right from Monday morning we were impressed with the resilient
nature of Tremblant's base layers that with very few minor exceptions,
survived the warm and wet weekend with a surprisingly complete outcome.

Mountain Crews were already working around the clock applying all their
resources to the Groomed Trails and by mid week they were even expanding
the groomed terrain beyond what it previously had been with 2 of our
Tremblant360 favourites, Marie-Claude Asselin and Banzai, a sure sign
of a very healthy recovery.

In the Mean-time it's a bit chilly(KKKkkkkkooold) @ -30C this morning,
but there is brilliant sunshine and with an almost calm Westerly breeze,
you will be surprised at how much thermal energy is in the sun when you
need to warm up by simply finding a quiet trail-side spot to safely pull
over for a few moments.

It's No Secret...

We love to look at the Webcams before we head off to the Mountain,
so when you see this scene on Expo from the Versant Nord, North Side
Base Webcam, you know you are in for a great day! The "Shred Depth"
is visible by the trail of snow-dust the Boarder is leaving behind and the
smoothness of the surface is obviously "Wall to Wall".... Perfect!

Equipment Caveats:

There is no doubt that Fresh Sharp Edges, tuned equipment has been
a critically necessary element to both enjoyment and utility this week
and that will continue to be the case even if we do get a bunch more
snow. Once there has been an exposure that can create icy substrate,
wide open zones, trail crests, and steeper pitches can all exhibit control
issues, particularly where winds can work to move loose or exposed snow.

Either bring tuned gear or see the Pro's at the Ski/Board Tuning centre
at the Chalet des Voyageurs, at the foot of the Cabriolet, South Resort Base,
as soon as you get here. It is our understanding that they can do tuneups
overnight in most cases.

The Wintersteiger Discovery 3 Axis Automated Ski Tuner they have is
arguably the best machine on Earth for maintaining your Skis. It is remarkably
gentle on the edges for maximum durability and Ski life, while producing
an outstanding edge for optimum grip.

We've found their prices cheaper than many lesser quality tune's
using old, sub-standard gear that's in the basements of most
Ski Shops.

----------- End of Equipment Caveat --------------

Safety Feature:
(Repeat from Yesterday because it's still
on the Title Block of the Official Tremblant.ca Snow Report.)

"From The Tremblant.ca Official Snow Report...

"On Sunday, January 20, Tremblant welcomes the Tournée Sécuri-Ski
that promotes awareness and encourages skiers and snowboarders
alike to adopt a safe and responsible behaviour on the slopes.

From 9a.m. to 3p.m., the tour’s team will provide animation,
hand out door prizes and teach you all there is to know about the
Mountain Code of Conduct. Come and ride safely!"

We "Like" This!!!

Any patient long-term readers here will know we do all
these "Safety Caveats", many of which refer to things like...

"Control Speed"
"Watch out for others who aren't as good as you are"
"Use the Eyes in the back of your head, scan for traffic"
"Slow down, enjoy the views"
"Caution with speed for conditions"

...or any other way of expressing the absolute necessity of
avoiding potential accident scenario's....

So, when we see that there is a focused effort to raise awareness
on this level... we congratulate Tremblant for addressing safety
issues in such a positive, constructive way."

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

And Look At The Very Fine Moderate South Wind !!!

We Love these low speed wind values 'cause they're not strong
enough to blow it away!!!

Big Summit Sector Drifting Potential, additional to the 30 CM's, 1 Foot
of NEW SNOW!!!!

We could see HUGE Drifting!!!

68 Open Trails on the Preliminary Official Snow report...
