Please Note: 82(*) Open Trails on Tomorrow's PRELIMINARY(subject to morning
confirmation), Official Snow Report... See Open Trail List attached below
in "Reply".
When does -20 C feel "Too Hot"?
The day after -36 C, that's when....
Very Easy Winter day... after this week.
If it's your first day here in a while, it may seem cold.
Decent group out, but never any traffic hold-ups...
Excellent Summit Long Views....
Above: If you look at the Horizon, almost directly above the last Island
on Lac Tremblant North, you will see a large wide peak and we believe
that is Mont-Laurier, roughly 90 Kilometres North.
One of the nicest parts was that after the Howling Banshee of Yesterday...
There was not even the faintest hint of a tiny, tiny smidgeon of a breeze....
absolutely dead calm. You could hear a Raven cawing a Kilometre away...
Ski Conditions Generally Excellent... Surfaces smooth, fast and 94%
Glitch free.
There were a few windblown semi-icy bits. There were some firm, even solid
windblown bits that did not even have an ounce of ice in them, they were
just very dense, highly compacted, wind stratified zones of snow. Good edges
were ideal for optimized input control.
More later in Full Apres Ski if time permits, otherwise... tomorrow's
going to be mild compared to this week, super, super easy.

64(*) Open Trails on the still yet, Cold Weather Safety
2 sides of Tremblant.
Hopefully, it may look like this, but without the very obvious
wind factor you can see here in Yesterday.
If you've been here all week, today will feel Hot!
The Elementary Weather Picture...
It's no secret... we like cold snow, we've enjoyed every second of it and
the Skiing this week has technically been some of the best of the season,
but functioning at any serious high performance levels at the absolute
lows we've had takes a lot of energy, so we're looking just a bit forward
to actually feeling warm again. It makes sustained effort much easier.
Below: There was a fair amount of loose snow being propelled across
the Summit yesterday from the top portions of South Side trails towards
the North, so to a small degree, the North Side summit sectors got the drifting
benefit. We use P'tit Bonheur as a standard of North Side Trail quality because it
is as close to perfect as can be seen, every single day, practically
speaking, and yesterday was no exception. Its Surface was being washed
over by a very fine snow dust coming from the South and it was Satin Smooth
to ski on. This was occurring on much of the North that we saw and
today will most likely be exceptional there because of it, plus the incremental
improvement that we'd expect from over-night Grooming on top of that.
There's lots of work going on in the Parks....
First, The North Park on Rope Tow.
Riding up Lowell T, you can see work going on right from the bottom up.
Further up, the serpentine shaped, highly banked, contour run is getting
attention as well.
South Park Adrenaline...
We blasted by there yesterday, but camera was out'a juice so here's one from
the day before yesterday at "Last Run". There's a few big XXXL piles 'o Snow
there, and a lot of machine tracks too.
General Conditions... Always start with the snow quality, and that's where
Tremblant has a magnificent basic foundation of very dry, pure winter
snow to begin with.
This sample is trail-side off Nansen S, parallel to the main Nansen pitch
and you can see the wind driven very thin and easily broken crust as well
as the dust-like characteristics of the snow itself. You'll also see some
sun sparkles and that's a great sign of the very dry crystalline flake that
Skis and Boards so well.
Below:
With 2 sides of Tremblant Open, you'll find about 40 Kilometres of
this every day, and remarkably, all day long. The daily surface
durability in the ambient cold keeps the groomed in pristine shape.
We think there's a good chance of more open for the weekend with
the rising temps and all the work done by Mountain Crews, so in that
case you'll see a lot more of this corduroy all over.
