3/2/13 Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Late Night, Apres Midnight, Apres Ski....

Tomorrow's preliminary Snow Report shows 95/95 Open Trails,
so the Square Surface Area of Tremblant's 100% Open coverage
continues to be the dominant story.

Temps floating around Zero at the South Base level have so-far not
managed to effect any open terrain and we feel that will stay the same
way for as long as they don't go much above 2 or 3 degrees C.

Conditions are always relative too, so if we get "X" daytime temps,
then it's usually "X" "Plus" "Plus" everywhere to the South of here.

We're encouraging everyone to get out and enjoy these complete
coverages as soon and as often as possible... like right now....

like it or not... it's March... "Spring" ain't all that far off...[/b]

All Snow Now... and Bonus... All Day Too!

Based on statistics contained in our archives, The North Side
of Tremblant has been consistently, day-in, day-out, Sub-zero
since 10:00 A.M. on January 31st, 2013.

Despite the fact that Mother Nature has been floating Temp's
on the South Side up to +2C over the course of the last week,
those temps have not made it to any portion of the North.... Period.

Consequently, Tremblant's Versant Nord, The North Side may
still be the only, pure Winter Alpine Descent Sector left in
Eastern North America.

The Edge Sector is also included in the above assessment.

Similarly, all Summit Sectors, South, North and Soleil have also
been all-day, every day "Winter" since that same date... without
exception.

Remarkably then, even though almost all geographical areas to the South
of Tremblant's latitude have been subjected to some degree of heat
and/or rain in the recent week or two.... Tremblant has largely escaped
any of that by the narrowest of temperature margins, and gotten about 3 feet
of fresh snow in the past 10 days as an added bonus, for which we are
eternally grateful.

Below: This P'tit Bonheur Trail Side Snow Sample is typical
of what you'll find has been added to the base recently. It
is less than 10 feet from the edge of the trail, just below the
first pitch.

You can still find Pure Winter Alpine Snow Surfaces at Tremblant. That is
to say, that within those pure Winter Surfaces, there is no significant icy
component that might be typical of "Spring" type conditions where surfaces
are subjected to daytime "Plus" or "Thaw" factors.

"Thaw Factors" from either outright ambient temperature rises, and/or
any Solar induced surface thaw that can occur when daytime temps are
close to freezing, followed by overnight sub-zero, can yield "icy" in the
morning, but this has not happened at Tremblant yet.

This is a huge benefit in both the surface quality and reliability for Tremblant
guests right now who can count on the full 100% completeness of coverage
with 95/95 Open trails as well as the worry free user friendliness of icy free
surfaces, from "First Tracks" to "Last Run"... all day long.

"Spring" and all the wonderful qualities of Spring Skiing will come soon enough...
and we'll enjoy every second of it when it gets here, but in the mean-time,
within all the distinct phases of every annual Ski Season, we appreciate
the very high performance characteristics of pure winter surfaces very dearly,
and we savour every day of them as precious.
