Excellent Day. Period.

We Pick McCulloch...

The long, Golden rays of the Sun at Last Run bring out the
contour contrasts created by the days traffic in this hand held
300 mm Telephoto, zoomed in from the Government Dock
across Lac Tremblant, from the same spot as above.

Very Fine Performance on some really impressive quality
so soon after the January Thaw.

And The Views were, of course, SPECTACULAR!

67(*) Open Trails on all 4 sides of Tremblant.

Evidently, the Progressive status of 10 additional Trails
is an ongoing evaluation the Ski Patrol and Mountain Crews
are reserving to make on a case by case basis.

Some examples of Progressive Listings such as Banzai
on Versant Nord, The North Side, have only Natural Snow
on them. Given the stress that the base has been subjected to
with the recent January Thaw, we think it’s a great testament
to the amount of snow that was there before, that in this case,
Banzai is even on Progressive Opening status.

Basically, Banzai got very well drifted in, back in the abundant
Snow days of early to mid-December, and the cold frost
underneath has kept enough of that natural snow… even through
the thaw, to be considered for opening now.

That’s a Huge Tremblant advantage because as a “Canary In The
Coal Mine”… a “Tell-Tale” of very basic natural Snow survival,
entire sectors of Summit Terrain have come through the Thaw in
remarkably fine condition.

Indeed, through much of it, due to Tremblant’s Northerly Latitude,
when base levels were only a degree or three above freezing, these
sweet Summit sectors, with the Elevation Differential of between
3 to 5 C Cooler, were a degree or three Below Zero!

On the Groomed Terrain that has had early season Snowmaking support
the story is even better.

From Summit to Base, all the Open Groomed Terrain is in very fine
and FAST shape!

Yesterday Good… Today Better… as usual with the refinements of
overnight Grooming.

Below:
As Foggy and flat, low contrast light as it was yesterday,
this pic below submitted by one of our fans by iPhone
tells the most important part of the story which is the
smooth, fast surface conditions that are the Open Groomed
Terrain at Tremblant.

Todays Weather Is Forecast To Be…

Mostly Sunny with Cloudy periods and a daytime high at South Base levels
of -3 C.

Low to Moderate South-West Breezes, very easy, starting over the
Summit from the Soleil Sector, then swinging slightly around towards
Duncan as the afternoon progresses.

A Very Pleasant, Mild, Winter Mid-January Day!

------- ------ Conditions Caveats: ------- --------

The Majority of Open, Groomed, Alpine Snow Sport Surfaces
are Very Fine and Still Growing by the Day, if not by the Hour...

However…. We are returning to Winter, Consistent Sub-Zero Temp's....

So, There May Be Ice Patches and Icy Substrates of Dynamic shape
and Unspecified Location that need to be navigated with caution.
Daily Weather and Traffic patterns can alter the size and frequency
with which these Icy sectors are encountered.

Use your head and go safely.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
